Chain catching / popping on one stroke?

Post by homejames » September 1st, 2010, 3:00 pm

I was doing a long steady row today and towards the end, on one stroke, there was a big pop like something snapped or got caught. I couldn't see anything wrong with the chain, and although it threw me off a bit on that one stroke, the last 20 minutes of the workout were fine. Any idea what this could have been? Mainly wondering if the chain is fine or if it's a sign something is up, and what I can do to check for problems. Thanks.

Is this your own machine or one in a gym? Oil the chain lately? Check the tension cord also. It sounds though like you need to just oil the chain. How many meters are on it?

It's my own machine, oiled the chain and haven't had a problem since so hopefully it was just a one-off and the chain isnt going to snap soon!
