I haven't done distance trials yet, fully trained and rowing well at low drag (120 df.).lancs wrote: I'm just curious to see if you can stretch it out another year even after coming not even remotely close to any single one of your oft-stated 'targets'...
the difference between you, rangerboy, and the esteemed Jim Dietz is that Jim knows how to scull, and you don't.ranger wrote:The big challenge now, given my better technique, is to train myself to rate 30 spm for 5K, both OTW and off.
OTErg, at 12 SPI, that's 1:39/16:30.
OTW, even at 20 seconds per 500m over erg paces, that's 1:59, 19:10 for the 3 miles at the Head of the Charles.
I would be delighted with that.
If some 60s rower can do better, more power to them.
Last year, Dietz won the Veterans/60s race at the Head of the Charles at 2:06 pace.

No evidence for that.leadville wrote:the difference between you, rangerboy, and the esteemed Jim Dietz is that Jim knows how to scull, and you don't
Sure.ausrwr wrote:the temperature of the water, the current, the turns, and the wind, all have a major effect on boat speed.
Sure there is.ausrwr wrote:I'd go the other way. There's no evidence that you CAN.
Oh really? What is the nature of this evidence, and how did you obtain it without racing your training? Did your mommy say that she was sure you would someday amount to something?ranger wrote:Sure there is.ausrwr wrote:I'd go the other way. There's no evidence that you CAN.
You just don't have access to it.

hahahaha If you had Proof you would rent airtime around the 20.00 O clock news and shout it out.ranger wrote:Sure there is.ausrwr wrote:I'd go the other way. There's no evidence that you CAN.

It will end when he stops getting responses to it.lancs wrote:When's all this nonsense going to end? I mean really, when is it? When you pull another respectable 6:40something this season after blowing up a few times will all this end? Yea, I'm sure you'll both be at the HOCR when you are 60, lookin' for 2:00 pace.ausrwr wrote:One of my mates rowed and won it last year. She said it was one of the coldest and hardest races she's ever done. And she is faster, better, and tougher than you could be in even your wildest and most feverish dreams.

The truth of the matter is that none of us want this to end... it's a soap opera.Nosmo wrote:It will end when he stops getting responses to it.lancs wrote:When's all this nonsense going to end? (snip)
He will drag it out another year. He has dragged it out for years now and there is no evidence he will stop.
When everyone ignores him he will go away. But he will come back from time to time to try once again to hook people in to responding.
