I basically rewarded myself with a drink every thirty minutes, starting at the 1 hour mark.
I had some issues with my calves crampimg up, but going strapless for the final 1/3 of the row seemed to help.
If anyone can help me with a couple of questions I would love the advice.
1. What do people do to minimize stoppage time for drinks? I would klose about 15 seconds to gulp down some water.
2. I tried and failed to cerify my entry using the 16 digit code. I was wondering if this might be because I started on a different day than the one where I finished. Any ideas?
3. I was really thirsty afterward, and pounded down about 40oz of water and gatorade. I felt pretty nauseated after that. I was wondering if there are guidelines about how much and how fast one should drink after something like a marathon.
Unless you were sweating really heavily, 30' between drinks is rather short. That was 4 drink stops - right? I think that you could get by with 3 or even 2 - but evenly spaced - not like the 60'/30'/30'/30' which is implied in your report.
Do you use a log card? If you enter your time using that, you don't need the 16 digit code. Other than that, yes, it might be a date discrepancy. You might try it with each of the possible dates to see if one or the other works. Also, check the time and date setting of the monitor. If that was off, it could really screw things up.
Gulping that much down all at once was definitely a mistake. No matter how badly your body needs the water, it takes time to absorb it and sugar drinks (like Gatorade) make it worse.

P.S. Congratulations on completing a marathon! The next one won't seem so bad.
