Good race, guys! Congrats Pedro and Michael, on your PB's.

In spite of being a couple minutes behind everyone, I still find these online races really push me. When I see all your boats docked at the finish, I know I have to pick up my pace and muscle through those last meters.

Pedro had a very good race. I felt tired warming up, but when the race started I didn't feel all that bad. I didn't think I could out sprint Pedro so I tried to burn him off early. That worked great for 2K then my legs just gave out. I couldn't even get my HR back to the AT.

Pedro just kept the gas on and caught me at about 3K. Once Pedro passed me I lost it mentally.

I hate the 6K anyway. Too far to be fast and not long enough to use real endurance.

I should have known I couldn't do 6k in 21:00 flat.

Great race Pedro and Nigel. Nigel was pulling 1:20s in that final sprint.

Jeff

Great race again for all rowers.
A new battle versus Jeff and new pb for me. I think that Jeff tried to go very faster in the first km to go many meters but he had a break after 2km when he had 15 meter over me then I rowed same pace until I passed him and I tried that pace until final but no possible for me then between 4k to 5k a little bread to 1:50/1:51 until last km where I thought that I could to do a great last 500 but the legs said me no still Pedro and only I did a sprint for 300m.
I watched the great progressin Nigel and for a moment I thought he passed me but finally great spritn for him and for me.
Again Krysta surprise with a new pb and Michael too this races are helping to do great times because therea are people with seemed times and then great battles that we have still.
Congratulations all.
Next week 1k bad to me I hate 500m 1k and 2k many strokes that my legs doesn´t want to do but I will try to do well I hope it.
Pedro

Wow, you folks have knocked the cover off the ball while I missed the past two weeks! Great job and congrats on all of the PBs!

Krysta, you are right in the mix to take over top spot this week for the "Saturday 8 am EST heat" team! Go for it!

:-)

Bill, I've signed up for Saturday -- 1,000M -- 03:42.2 for SB and PB. I would hope for a significant improvement, as this was done in September. If it's not mid- to low-30's, I'm going to be severely disappointed.

Thanks -- Mark

Mark, good to see you'll be joining us for all the early morning fun this Saturday. Hope you are all recovered.

Bill, my 1k SB/PB of 3:55 is probably way off, since it was done in June when I first started erging. So could you use a handicap of 3:48 for me? Hopefully that will make a fair target for me. Thanks.

I think this heat should be re-named the sandbagger's heat. None of us have really put up a definitive 1k this season, so it will be interesting to see where it comes out. My best so far is from an interval session, and I'm hoping to knock off a whole bunch of time with this one, but will probably look like Sir Pirate's avatar at the end of it. (When I first saw that, I thought it was an erg with training wheels , but now I know better).

Hi Bill
My sb is 3:19.1 that I did at May remember. Only I did this km in this season no more. Bad to me the short distances.
Pedro

Ok, since it seems like you are all having fun and really racing in the handicap race part of the series, and not the straight race, I decided to sign up too and give this go. My PB from a couple of years ago is below and can be my handicap. I going to target sub 3:20 for the race.

(Barf bag, not included)... Maybe this should be called the Fly & Die heat...

Bill, I now realize that since this is a handicap if I use my PB from 2003 I will be starting 4 secs after you. Since you are almost certainly going to be under 3:20, maybe 3:18 or so, I would never catch you or even see you on screen.

I was thinking of doing 4x1000m for the first time ever tonight (or tomorrow, depending) and so according to the rules one of those would actually be my SB 1k for the year. That should put me a few secs in front of you at the start and give me a chance to be there at the end. Hope that is ok.

Alternately, I would agree to go off at 3:20 if you also start at 3:20. That would put 5 of us starting within 3 secs of each other (Jeff, Pedro, Holm, Bill, and me). At a 1:40 pace, we are going around 5 meters per sec, so that means we would all be within 15 meters of each other at the start. Otherwise, if you and I start around 3:30, that group of 3 would be 50-60 meters back with no hope of closing on us.

This of course would mess up Frank's scoring mechanism for the handicap but that is OK with me to give up any possible points (although if people start at a handicap faster than their SB, they could still get credit for beating their SB just like if they started earlier).

Just an idea.
