ID4 is already out and queued up to watch this evening ... love that movie ... Bill Pullman has one of the best rah-rah speeches of all time, I think. (Along with the end-game speeches in Scent of a Woman, and The American President.)

Anyone live where they still allow serious fireworks? Ours are pretty much all sparklers and cake toppers, unless you go to an approved organized display.

Happy Fourth.

Drat, I'm back on the disabled list. I jumped on the erg and cranked out a few too many 5K pieces without proper warmups and stretching. Thus I developed a case of Illiosoas Tendonitis - a twinge in the left hip flexor, a bit of online research has convinced me this is not a pain to row through. So 2-3 weeks of walking and yoga. See you in August.

Back in range, and sitting out some wet weather in Boulia, home of the Min Min lights (I'll leave you to google)

Happy 4th July to all....belatedly!

And yes, it was near Winton that Banjo Paterson penned Waltzing Matilda, Australia's unofficial National Anthem

Supposedly it was first sung at the North Gregory Hotel, Winton...some photos in my blog....

Take care and row strong, Baz

Moose Patrol...!
They shoot fireworks over Grand Lake twice a year - New Year's Eve and July 4th. It's a spectacular setting! July 4th brings a huge volume of folks into the small village (about 350 year round residents), and you don't see too many of the moose that are generally found wandering through and nearby the village...this fun patrol car is on Moose alert.

Welcome back two more rowing LunaTics - good to see some numbers on the boards for John D and Dick W! That brings our crew size to 53! Good rowing day yesterday with two half moons and more milestones being hit !

Season meters as of 67/365 = 11,533,514 m

Total meters on the day = 175,922 m

Oars in space (participation) = 28 percent

And thanks to all who rowed today - marvelous meters all !

Cammoweal Caves....spelunking for Baz?

Post by Kona2 » July 7th, 2010, 7:48 pm

Looks like Baz is preparing for his "going over" experience of this fall - where he will rappel down a 110 m building for charitable offerings - the Landy is currently at Cammoweal Caves in the north Queensland area. Apparently you have to use your climbing gear to lower yourself 18 m into the cave opening - and that's only if it's the dry season....didn't he say he was sitting out the rain a day or so ago??? Aaaack and wahoo! Bring snorkel gear, Baz!

On another continent, Danno has pulled to within 6K of Minnie in their "race" to one million meters! Great rowing!
