Et, voila ... hopefully they're not running into too many man-eating koala bears!

I dunno - looks like there is a lot of frontier left in Australia....not to mention the yellow-footed rock wallabies, bandicoots and bilby(s)..what an adventure! Although, I did notice in Baz's photo sets of the Defender Land Rover that there was a ladder that extended from the tent to the ground....that first wrong step might be a doozie...

Woohoo! Time to start a couple of ONE Million Meter Countdowns......Danno and Minnie are definitely within one million meter range in the next ten days!

Howdy fellow Luna-tics, finally got in range for internet connection!!

Had a great laugh at the Aussie Map!

Having a great time, and Tomo is in his element......

Anyway, in between fending off emus, kangaroos, and wrestling with giant Koalas (and the odd beer or two) I've managed to update a blog of our travels so far.

You can find it here.

http://www.exploroz.com/Members/33714/6 ... annah.aspx

We will be in Diamantina National Park in a couple of days; quite a remote region, just hoping it doesn't rain too much as it is forecast for the next 24 hours. Hence sitting it out in Longreach! Outback roads in Australia are not the place to be when it rains.....

Take care and row strong BBB

Aargh, forsooth, Hiawatha ... I'm still on my first cup of coffee for the morning, and anticipate that I'll now have "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" spinning through my head all day long. (Happily, it's a great song.)

Love all the "ones" by the way.

Speaking of songs....Baz and The Landy caravan are making their way through Queensland and currently in Winton Shire....said to be the birthplace of "Waltzing Matilda," which seems to be an unofficial (I think) Australian national anthem.
I wondered about water supplies out there in the Outback - apparently the drilled for water supply has a temperature of 83 to 86 C, which translates into about 181 F - and must be circulated through radiant cooling and cooling ponds prior to introduction into a town's main water supply. No shortage of hot water there!

Welcome back, Jack! John Longmire has signed back on with the LunaTic crew for the 2011 Rowing Season!

Meanwhile, back in rowing space, where water is also scarce - a steady pace is being kept by many LunaTics! Gina is nearing her 300K milestone (mere meters away!) and Steven L just passed the 400K mark. Danno contemplates making his first million of the rowing season by his birthday....

Season meters as of 62/365 = 10,774,077 m

Total meters on the day = 135,676 m

Oars in space (participation) = 20 percent

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.2.10

Almost missed the Bazzy posting of a couple of days ago - June 30th posting - great travelogue with some good photos! What an adventure! Check it out!

Image Time for Tour de France!

If you're looking for something "new" to watch while rowing, this year's Tour de France might provide a new mix of action and drama as Lance Armstrong of Team Radio Shack and Alberto Contador of Team Astana battle it out....not to discount a host of other strong riders going after the yellow jersey! This year's race starts in Holland - I think in Rotterdam - so perhaps our Dutch team members Peter H and Lilia are getting an opportunity to be spectators!

Season meters as of 63/365 = 10,935,150 m

Total meters on the day = 161,073 m

Oars in space (participation) = 20 percent

MILESTONES....Bragging Rights....Celebrations:

200K Greg H

Image Red Giant for Will S as he posts 52,000 m...perhaps getting close to finishing this tour of duty in Iraq?
Image Minnie brings in a half marathon...then tacks a 2K on for good measure

ONE Million Meter Watch:

Dan with (113,189 m) to go!

Chris with (118,353 m) to go!

And thanks to all today's crew for all the kinds of meters!

Karon 3,402 m
K2 7,892 m
Steven L 10,000 m
Jim 10,000 m
Jack 11,862 m
Greg H 12,501 m
Rodrigo 14,057 m
Dan 16,262 m
Chris 23,097 m
Will S 52,000 m

Woohoo! Eleven million team meters on the horizon for today! Row, row, row!
