So you are clearly not your father.

What's new?

I'm sorry to hear that ranger (not for you, as you deserve little sympathy, but for your son). I hope he won't be sleeping rough during the winter as well; a Minnesota winter is no fun in a draughty house, let alone under the trees a few steps from the boatclub.
At least having grown up around the nutty prof, he's undoubtedly gotten used to endless gusts of wind

Nope.

Not for what I want to do this fall and winter with my erging.

For that, I have "learned" all I need to learn.

Now I just need to ramp up my sessions to four hours (two hours of base pace rowing and two hours of cross-training on my bike) and my HR to the max (with distance trials and hard sharpening).

And, this fall and winter, I will lay down a whole brace of 55s and 60s lwt times on the erg that will never be equaled.

You've been saying you need to up your training to 4 hours forever. Why don't you just f*****g do it? For all of the other forumites, let's start taking guesses at which excuse he uses for not posting a 6:28 2k on September 1st. The problem is, he might well give the time trial a shot, but if he doesn't hit 6:28 he'll never post his real time. Does anybody live in Ann Arbor...AND be willing to go to his house to witness the September 1st attempt?

I'll start...whether he actually does a time trial or not, he will not post a time and it will be because his distance rowing isn't yet complete. When all is said and done he will not race this fall, and will claim that he has his whole life to prepare, and will post a 6:16 next year as a 60 yo.

I'll wait to see a few humorous excuse guesses then log back in on September 1st to see the results. See ya!

Ranger must really get a kick out of getting everyone to respond to him. I hope those that do enjoy his responses you get 'cause you are just an enabler. Must be something like a co-dependency between Ranger and everyone else who respond to certain derangements.

Sorry, folks.

But I do indeed get a kick out of responding to _your_ derangements.

My rowing is great.

My training is coming along great.

How's it goin' with you?

This last year, no one my age and weight or older came within 20 seconds of my 2K.

Without even preparing for it, and pulling along at max drag, I did WR pace for 2K (6:41).

So I must be doing _something_ right, no?

:D :D

Sure, I don't know exactly how things will turn out, but heck, if things go well, and my training is indeed going well, I think I might outdistance my competition this next year by 40 seconds over 2K.

We'll soon see.

The hammer row in the 60s lwts at WIRC 2010 was 7:04.

20 seconds over 2K is quite a bit, no?

40 seconds over 2K is a country mile.

Unprecedented stuff.

Hi-yo, Silver.

Save a horse, ride a cowboy.

Those who dwell on their shortcomings will just be short coming.

Much more productive--and fun--to look on the bright side.

It's a bummer to be loony _all_ of the time.

Here comes the sun.

Ranger, you are such a hero !!!
Looks like your wonderful chain jerking technique on the erg has carried over to jerking on something else.
The World needs another Super Hero like you. You could wear a costume shaped like a phallic symbol and call yourself "Captain Jerk Off".
PBs: 2K 6:13.4, 5K 16:32, 6K 19:55, 10K 33:49, 30min 8849m, 60min 17,309m
Caution: Static C2 ergs can ruin your technique and timing for rowing in a boat.
The best thing I ever did to improve my rowing was to sell my C2 and get a Rowperfect.

Full quote please, dirtbag.
I was referring to OTW rowing.

And re: dwelling on shortcomings - it's necessary to acknowledge them before you can deal with them.
Perhaps if you faced up to your constant lies and failure to achieve any of your targets over the last seven years, you might be able to get within 30 seconds of your 'potential'.

When was the last time you actually delivered on anything you promised? Quite simply, you can't.

Re: was shit, alway will be shit. A few Sub 7s in a single, a few open National Championships, and a thus-far undefeated season for me might argue otherwise.

Erging for me is an aid to on water rowing.
Erging for you is a means of projecting your horrific personality.

Perhaps we need a new term to describe what Ranger does. How about, "Egoing"

Having no ego is being nobody.

As E.E. Cummings liked to say, "I have never met a self who was not centered."
