Great rowing guys, let's keep going!

Who is this team for? I was looking for a place where I could motivate myself a little more than just passing the people who have rowed once and then stopped. I'm also looking for a training partner that I can keep up with and motivate my sorry bum to continue doing what I hated in college but now for some reason fork over a grand to do at home.

Excellent. Sounds like me.

Edit: I couldn't find the team on the "Team" page. Does the team not do the team challenges?

Well, it took me a month, but I finally got back to my >20,000m/week goal this week. Next week I'm on staycation, so making it a trend should be easy. Next week I should break 100k for the season and 500k lifetime... halfway to the Million Meter Club! Next week I should also get the new hand pads I ordered off of Amazon. If they work out well I'll post a review. Have a great day, everyone, and ROW STRONG!

Just go to your edit profile page and when you scroll towards the bottom , I think it says affiliation. Then scroll through that and when it comes to TimbukTOO, click on it, then you are part of us. We do the challenges under the Timbuktu name which is a different team.
Karen--Good luck on the 100K and 500K goals. You are doing fantastic. How long have you been rowing now? I started in 2003 and just love the exercise I get from it.
Anybody else want to say how long they have been rowing? Sometimes it seems this forum is so quiet except for me. Funny really, because during the day, I probably say less than 500 words. lol
Keep up the fantastic rowing TimbukTOO.

I've been rowing on and off since 1996. I rowed for 2 years at Clemson and then coached my last year. So that was the beginning of the obsession. I got a model C when I got out into the real world. Then unfortunately I had to sell it a few years later. Luckily though, I was able to just recently acquire a model D. All told, I'm most likely over 1 million meters, but none of the rowing I did in college was logged. So I'm hoping that this season, I can get to the million meter mark.

I remember some of the times that I was rowing in college and I know that it will take a lot of work to get back to those times so I've set my goals mildly conservative for the near term at least until my body gets used to rowing again (my butt cramps during rows and I know that will go away after a month or so).

Hi Jim and the team!

Been a while since I have been on here. Jim you are doing an awesome job as team Captain. I am sure Pat would be proud of you. Hope you are well Pat.

Not rowing anymore since my achilles problem. The skierg is an excellent workout but miss the rowing competitions. Have limited my workouts to prevent breaking something else!

The skierg sems to be building my upper body and so seem to be adding weight tho :? At least thats my excuse.

Had an awful allergy season, am changing job and moving again so a lot going on! Teams seems to be growing everyday.

Good luck Timbuk 2 :D

I only started mid-December last year, and I'd never rowed before on or off the water, so I'm pretty pleased with my progress and that I've stuck to it for six months now. I feel like I've made a life change that will last and be great for my health. I still haven't figured out how not to love food (or how not to act on my love of food), but perhaps this summer I can focus on that as my next life change. :D

Chris, I am glad you are still skierging, I know you had major trouble with the achilles last season. Sorry about the allergies, they can really make life miseable.Good luck with the move and new job. I miss the competition we had during the challenges last year, but am so happy you are part of TimbukTOO.
Karen,
I still eat like a pig, or so my wife says, but I try to exercise a bunch to keep the lbs I have lost off.
Go Team

Karen,

Something that I learned while training for a marathon back in March is that if you exercise a lot, you have to eat a lot. I would get light headed and feel like I was dragging a 2x4 when running if I didn't eat enough. I had to eat to the point of nausea toward the end to get in enough calories.

I love food. If you exercise enough, then your body will force you to indulge. Now, I almost feel like Richard Prior in Brewster's Millions. I don't eat near what I used to and I dropped 4 inches off of my pant size. :D

Good luck with the life change

Congratulations to Raymond for passing the 100K meter season mark :D Way to row teammate!!!
I think that makes 14 members of our team past 100K for this season.
We also have moved into 9th place if only temporarily. Yay!!!!!
Keep up the great rowing team.
