LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Barb - glad to hear you are back home , praying for your full and speedy recovery. But take your time, you'll be running and erging soon enough . Meanwhile, your encouragement is appreciated both here and on FB.
I passed the 4,000,000 mark tonite , meaning only 994,599 m to go for my long sleeved t-shirt. It should take me about 24 weeks. Perhaps I'll have it for winter??

To my Luna-tics mates....thought I'd let you know about this..........
Foreign Exchange Market (sends Barry O’Malley over the Edge!)
Well, not quite over the edge – yet.
But I thought I would send a note to let you know that I intend to abseil off the top of the AMP Building in Sydney, on 22 October, in a Charity Event called Urban Descent in support of the Sir David Martin Foundation.
And yes, apparently they do have perfectly functioning elevators in the AMP Building.........
So why am I doing this? ...along with a group of other like-minded people, including Janet, my partner, we hope our endeavour will assist in a greater awareness of the Foundation, and importantly, to help raise much needed money to assist in advancing the Foundation’s aims.
How can you help?
Any donation you can make will be greatly appreciated by the Foundation, and will take me one step closer to going over the edge (I’ve never abseiled before!). Simply follow the link, whip your credit card out, give it a swipe, and remember if you are a Westpac Banking Corporation Staff member, the Bank will match your donation under the matching gifts program.

About the Foundation
Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, and four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.

Over the edge
Crew member Baz, not content with being "Down Under" decides he must "Go Over." Team supports Space Walk, hopes tether mechanism holds strong. Will this be the Australian rappel.....in which the descender faces down towards the ground or will it be the "what I can't see can't kill me?" backwards trek down the side of the building? World record for abseiling (rappelling - in this case, without the mountain) for 100 m is just under 9 seconds....of course, that fellow missed the landing boxes (never fear, he lives to dare another day). AMP building is 115 m tall....
