John, I was rummaging around some racewalking sites (my other sport in younger days) and stumbled upon an age grading ranking some masters racewalk groups use to rank walkers in races. Looks a lot like PERathlon scoring. You may want to visit this:

http://www.philsport.com/narf/

I'm sure Elaine Ward would value your input, I remember when her group used to do time handicaps for 10K walks.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for the link. The Perathlon method could be used in many different sports.

I'm looking to update the ratios in the next couple of days.

perathon web page is ready

Post by johnlvs2run » June 14th, 2007, 2:14 pm

The Perathlon has been completely updated, from age 12 through age 95. Formulas for the 30 and 60 minute events have been updated and I am quite satisfied with their accuracy.

I have updated my own Perathlon scores from age 56 to the present and the results are quite interesting. I have reached 901 points in 3 events, 898 in a 4th, 896 in a 5th, and 891 in a 6th over 3 different years. This is not including the hour would have probably been around 901 points too but I did that as part of the half marathon. The really interesting thing is comparing my scores from this year. My recent half marathon and hour were 882 and 885 points, very close to what they were before. I am happy to be this close already and this gives me more motivation to reach my scores from a few years ago.

I have developed a web page for the Perathlon and am ready to post it on the net. What is needed now is a server to post the web page, and php for the formulas so people can enter their times and see the scores they've accomplished. It is possible for me to host the server on my own machine, as I have linux installed, along with xampp which has apache and php. That is as far as I've gotten and know how to do at this point. I will keep working on this on my own, though it takes longer for me to get it going this way figuring out how to do everything on my own. If anyone would like to communicate with me to provide some assistance to me doing these things, which would help to greatly speed up the process, feel free to send a private message and your input will be welcomed.

Perathlon update

I've uploaded the Perathlon web page to a server site on the internet.

The next step is to add formulas so people will able to determine their scores.

This was my inconspicuous post on Sep 08, 2008.

I've completely revised and updated the Perathlon tables, based on the 2k world records as usual, and this time additionally on the Concept2 2008 final rankings for the other 9 events.

The result of this is that the 9 events on either side of the 2k will get significantly higher scores than before.

If there are any questions, I'm completely open to sharing how the various formulas are completed.

Em I they only one who thinks seconds is the wrong value to measure it by?
It gives you a false impression of how close you are to the elite, it should be measured in watts, then you know how much work is behind it.
In seconds a 6:10 compared to a 5:37 would be 91%
In watts its 442, 585 making it 75.5%

Actually .91 cubed is .753571.

You can find the Wattathon age adjustments by cubing the Perathlon age adjustments.
