There are now 351 people listed on the memberlist for rowpro on the rerow server. I don't know how Cees gets this data or where the info comes from. I was dropped off the list as part of the profile purge last winter, but I try not to take that personally. So there may be other rowpro users out there not on the list too. But this seems to be growing rapidly now, it was around 120 in April and around 250 a month or so ago.

Does anyone know how digital rowing makes money? Is this a full time job or do they do this at night in their spare time? 300 paid users is only 30,000 so I can't see how that could support a company at this point. I would be more sympathetic to DR's apparent inability to communicate at times, if I knew they were doing this on the side and were losing money.

Not sure if this link will work (log in may be required):

memberlist

Maybe DR has outsourced development to India?

Just joking. I have not used Rowpro yet.

I row in an unfinished basement and PC/internet access is not convenient. But from the discussions it seems to be an excellent product for races, group training, and individual sessions.

I'm anxious to get one, but can't justify the PC / WLAN / Rowpro expense quite yet. Being a software developer, I'm amazed at the quality considering they sell comparatively few items than say PlayStation.

Curious as to what applications people develop with Concept2's SDK software challenge. I've seen a few folks on the forum that are developing applications. I personally would like to build in features for blind / vision impared, which could give audible indications on targets, pace, stroke rate, heart rate, etc. It would be fun, just no time...
My understanding of the situation is that Pete is developing RowPro as a very expensive hobby. He has several people working on the software, but I don't think that they are full time employees.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

You mean that the RowPro software is someones hobby, not a job for a crew of full time people? WOW! What a heck of job he is doing.

Darren

RowPro is definitely worth the cost and those of us who use it online really get out money's worth. Remember Concept2 gave us e-row but considered it a loss leader while the Pete and his team have to make all of their money on the software alone.

Frank
