How can you say zero days left ... as long as the heart is willing and there are seconds on the clock there is the possibility of sweet success proving the nay-sayers wrong!!!

We're down to 7 hours 10mins left. So Ranger could get a 100K done and logged before midnight EDT.

He won't.

Nope.

I have about 30 years.

At the moment, I am about 20 seconds better over 2k than anyone my age and weight.

If things go well, I will soon be 40 seconds better over 2K than anyone my age and weight.

I don't know whether that is ideal, but I am happy with it.

My training is coming along great, and my racing, such as it is, is pretty much uncontested, even though I am not yet even preparing to race.

I don't care who cares or not.

I am going to pull 6:16 at 60 because I can, and want to do my best.

No other motive makes much sense.

Most of the other things I do have the same motivation.

Be my guest.

Care--or not.

It doesn't make any difference.

You are just the crowd on the sidelines.

If you want to jump in there and do it too, then sure, that would be significant.

But it seems clear: You can't be arsed.

To each his own.

You folks eating hot dogs in the stands don't have much of a role to play in my project.

Watch out.

Don't drip mustard on your tie.

I do think it'd be quite amusing to let the Prof fester in his own bullshit. Anyone else up for it? :)

Time to sign off folks, let him stew in his own ego.
He was ignored for months on his UK blog, so he migrates back to this forum to feed his craving for responses.
Count me out until he logs some of those ranking times promised.
Cue...., not ready, still learning, in the fall, when I turn 60, 2003, not fully trained, not racing training etc blah blah.

So WTF was all the boasting about and how can you come out with this crap?

ranger wrote: Training is coming along great, though.
ranger wrote: I feel wonderful, physically.

Best ever.

Every boast of yours ends up with a throw away line like the one above.

If you don’t have the balls to attempt your boasts, why not just keep quiet in the first place?

Your behaviour to me appears entirely predictable.

Even as you come out with this little gem.

ranger wrote: I am going to pull 6:16 at 60 because I can, and want to do my best.

You have very little chance of breaking 6:40 let alone 6:16 although I respect anybody that wants to do their best.

So for me this soap opera is now over and on my way out I would like to thank you very much for the entertainment.

I would also like to wish you the best of luck with your future training.

Stay healthy.

Maybe see you at BIRC?

That's quite an accomplishment -- there are all of 12 lightweight male age = 59 results in the rankings this year! Your mommy must be so proud of you, though the old man probably is still wondering why you didn't learn anything from your parents or your brother...

Yep.

At my age, there are not too many folks rowing.

And those that are still rowing, by and large, can't row a lick.

That's what my training has countered--the slippery slope, the inevitable decline with age, etc.

I have documented my training in great detail; anyone can follow it, if they have the grit to take it on.

So when I pull 6;16 at 60, what Eskild E. is pulling now at 37, if no one cares, it doesn't bother me.

I am just doing it because I can, because it makes me feel great, and because it's challenging and fun.

Great reasons.

Can't wait for my new boat to arrive.

Beautiful morning today on the river.

Only down to 61 degrees F. tonight.

So tomorrow morning should be great on the river, too.

You don't respect 2Ks?

For those my age and weight and older, no one came within twenty seconds of my 2K this year.

Odd.

Steve--

What did you do for 2K this year?

I don't even see you in the rankings.

And you don't have a signature line.

Don't you think you should?

It's hard to know how to assess your comments if you don't.

If you dodge presenting a signature line, you're just a troll, a nay-doer, etc.

All talk, and nothing doing.

Doesn't that bother you?

Well, you might first want to do something that turns the lights _on_ for you, Carl.

Otherwise, it's you who are in the dark.

To do that, you have quite a bit of work to do.

Good luck.

Hope you are up to it.

I'm in the spotlight.

The lights are bright.

Why?

I did the work.

I was up to it.

Sorry, Kev, but you give no indication of this whatsoever.

I have not only done my best.

I _am_ the best.

Good luck in climbing the mountain.

It is a steep slope, and slippery, and in the main, it doesn't point up.

It points down.

Not sure what you are talking about, Kev.

The 6:41 2K I pulled this year was at max drag, half trained.

I have not yet done hard distance rowing, distance trials, and sharpening, which (I would suspect) give me about 20 seconds over 2K.

2Ks aren't UT rows.

To do your best you need to prepare for them.

Do you do your best 2Ks without hard distance rowing, distance trials, or sharpening--without any anaerobic training?

If so, are you suggesting that I truncate my training for 2K because you do?

That's not very likely.

I also wonder about your lack for respect for my lwt 6:41 at 59.

This next year, it looks as though no other 55s lwts will have much chance of breaking 6:50, and only two other 50s lwts pulled better than 6:41, one the WR-holder.

That's not a bad row, given the circumstances (that I was only half-trained).
