I am pretty new to RowPro too, and have generally been rowing with people much faster than me. Everyone is very patient and helpfull. First of all, no one minds if you finish a few minutes after them on a set distance piece. There are timed pieces as well, like 30 min, where you all finish at the same time regardless of speed. Also, not every online row is a "race". Some are just nice slow training rows that are comfortable. And then there is my personal favorite, the handicap races. It sounds like there is a fall series of these in the works. It'd be great to have you on board - the more the merrier!

- Krysta

Thanks :-) That sounds good. I think I will have another go with the demo and then end up getting the program sometime next month :-)

/Anna
RowPro is a great program. I would highly recommend it. I find rowing against people other than my old rows is great fun. I have not been able to get hooked up with any online races due to time conflicts but hope to in the near future. The 10 free uses is a bit low, more uses or the day limit would be good. I bought the full version almost a year ago, my key is still saved on the site and I was able to very simply update when 1.7 came out.

Downloading other peoples rows is great and a very good way to push yourself faster. And Krysta, you rock! Your times in the 2K and 5K are great and I am trying to catch those!

Good Rowing,

Darren

Oh, BTW, RowPro does not work on a Mac

I was told there are no plans in the works for a Mac version. I had to keep my old my old PC downstairs by the rower just for the RowPro program.

i agree... the reason I havent setup Rowpro yet, is because 10 tries is just not enough.. so, I want to wait til I understand more about the program before I start up using the trial runs.. 30 days would be much better, in fact when I ordered my C2, I specifically asked the sales rep about software for online rowing and she told me that it came with a 30 day trial package.. I was a bit disappointed when i found out it was the 10 day trial version, but oh well.. I got over it.

By the way... How do you communicate with Rowpro? Is it just a regular chat room, where you type everything in? That sort of makes it difficult to communicate while rowing, doesnt it?

Anybody ever try to use a voice chat software with it? Like Teamspeak or something? I run a videogame website and that software is pretty good, low overhead on the PC and the voice quality is excellent. oh well.... I'm not sure how much I'd actually talk while rowing, but I was just throwing that idea out there..

SF

I thought you had a webcam set up for rowing once Steve V?

You chat on rowpro using the chat program before you row, not while you are rowing. Once you are rowing, you no longer get any messages and can't really chat (I haven't actually tested if I could get the chat app back up once I was rowing). The program is pretty simple but seems to work now, ok.

Although I was the first to point out the inadequacies of the 10 tries, I am pretty sure that if you email or call digital rowing, and say you need more time for the demo, they will extend it for you. Since rowpro is the only game in town if you want to row online with a PM3 though, I decided just to buy it and not worry about the demo tries in the end.

Online rowing, if you have the computer, is well worth $100.

You use the client software to connect to a server. You can either pay a small monthly fee to rent space on a Teamspeak Server, or if you have a highspeed internet connectin, you can download the FREE server software and run it on a seperate PC. Then all you need to do is connect to your free server..

I've done it on my system at home and it works pretty well...

If anybody has a headphone and wants to test it out, let me know.. I can set up my server at home and send you the IP address and password.

I've never used MSN Messenger Voice Chat.. I've experimented with the Yahoo Voice Chat, but that was pretty buggy and laggy.. Teamspeak allows you to setup different lobbies so that you dont have a lot of cross talk.. you can basically jump in and out of lobbies with a click of the mouse. You also dont need to be invited to join a group, The server is always running, you just log into the server, get a list of people who are online and choose which lobby you want to join.

SF

SF

Leif, I went to college and so I am multilingual! It is a minority language but a VERY powerful and important one! If you can learn English , Leif, then I can learn Danish! Kom og vær med! :-) Ron
