been ill for 6 month and no excercise whatsoever but thankfully back on the Erg..........down 1000m on my personal best which has really messed my head up but made me more determined to acheive the goals i set myself last September.

Good to be back fellow Eergers :) :)

never had an illness like that. I had Lyme's disease the spring season my junior year of college. I apparently had mono too at the same time according to the blood work but never realized it nor did it affect my performance. (my knee began swelling which is why they tested for lyme's due to a lack of trauma to the knee.)

However, with common colds it seems that once my soar throat passes(if i have one) and despite any remaining congestion/fever/etc, a solid workout on the erg always leaves me feeling better than if I had merely lounged in bed all day.

Good luck with getting well and getting your form back.

Being down 1000meters in 30 minutes from your PB is sizable but with that said, you might be really surprised at how quickly you might recover your fitness.

I had over 6 months of inactivity until I was able to start exercising again on Feb 1st. Maybe partly due to having a lot of training hours in my body over my past 40+ years from cycling, xc skiing, general strength training and in my younger days... running, I have been amazed about how fast my body is recovering some its old fitness. I am currently on schedule to probably do about a sub 3 hour erg marathon in Boston on 4/19.

Depending on your fitness history and many other factors, I think your recovery might go faster than you might dream, but the process will be annoying at times with bumps in the road.

Don’t go crazy especially with intensity especially early on and make sure you take a day off once in a while, eat well & sleep enough, and keep us informed.
