Thanks, Jim. I didn't notice the milestone because I've been more focused on my daily average. I don't know how long I can keep up this pace. I try not to think about it too much; just doing what I can. You're so close to the 10,000. Keep it up!

So sad, all of my basketball teams have lost now, but it was an exciting season!

Hi Team!
Thank you for welcoming me into the fold. As an introduction, I have just recently been bit by the rowing bug. I figured any workout where you try and go 10k light and wind up busting your behind because it's just so dang fun must be a keeper. I have a rower on order and have been putting in all of my M's on the department rowers. I do have a background of being on the crew team in college......well, my roomate was on the team and so with the single-minded lifestyle they lived I might as well have been on it as well. :) I ran x-country and track actually. I've rowed a little bit since college though. However, that was only been during my Coast Guard Reserve career and really only once. Couple kids stuck on a massive log raft held together by chained together logs. My only option was to drive out with the morale canoe draped across my bow and put it in on there side and row out and get them. Boy did I get my butt chewed for that one!!!
So here I am, 42 year old firefighter trying to stay in shape. I tried working out with my shift but they are pretty much limited to one syllable comments until they get to "cross-fit", then they slide back into the one-syllable's. Great guys but a little too competitive. As for Timbuk2, well I would like to say that after an exhausting search of all of the teams and their mission statements I settled on this team but in all honesty, I just liked the team spirit you all have shown on this thread. Thanks again for the welcome!

I love your enthusiasm, Russ, and hope it's catching. During the long haul of each season, my enthusiasm goes through boom and bust cycles. Being part of a supportive team makes the boom cycles more fun and the bust cycles easier to deal with. I find that the bust cycles related to physical injuries & wear and tear are the most difficult to take, but almost everyone experiences these periods. What's great is that your team members will be there to remind you that the bust cycles and low energy periods don't last forever.

"I figured any workout where you try and go 10k light and wind up busting your behind because it's just so dang fun must be a keeper."
If 10K is a breeze, I'm sure you'll be setting your sights on the 10,000 + daily meters honor board when the next season begins May 1.

Well, I was feeling pretty good for my row on Saturday, and I decided to go ahead and test my 5000m personal best time after a month of March Madness. Not only did I set a new personal best, but I blew away my previous best time by 15 seconds! March Madness has definitely kicked me up a notch.

Speaking of, if I wanted to put a suggestion in to Concept2 about the March Madness certificates, any idea where I would send that? My husband finished his 25 rows this morning, and we accessed his certificate. We were bummed that it didn't include the rower's name on it, so basically mine will look no different than his. I know Concept2 can do it, because my half-marathon certificate has my name on it. It would make the certificate more personal and drive the achievement home if they added the rower's name.

Whew, back from three weeks vacation! Was unable to get access to a rower but did a fair bit of power walking to try to stay on track with my weight loss, afraid of the scale this week though as I had a vacation eating mentality to go with it. Either way I'll get back on the rower and start contributing to the team totals again!

Team announcement:

I will not be available for team stats as they have been posted to date every day.
I will not be updating daily team stats for the rest of the season.
I hope you will understand and continue to row with the same spirit and strength as you have rowed all season.
There has been incredible team effort!!
Each team member has given team TimbukTOO its ability to be the best team out there and the reason to be in the top 10!!

Row strong and stay together!!!
