Happy Birthday, Peter!

... and thanks for all the anniversary well-wishes! While Darryl's enjoying corned beef and cabbage tonight, we have rez at our favorite kosher Israeli vegetarian restaurant ... hopefully not a single mug of green beer, or green mashed potatoes, will be seen. (The down-side of choosing an anniversary that's easy to remember!)

Das Boot

Post by just27 » March 18th, 2010, 2:22 am

On one of our many "how-is-this-related-to-rowing?" strings, someone (Bazzy, I think) mentioned "Das Boot" as a good submarine movie, so I thought I'd watch it again. Come to find out, I never saw it a first time! (Although I do seem to remember the bananas.) Good movie. Didn't see the end coming.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.19.10

Post by Kona2 » March 19th, 2010, 12:46 pm

What a treat! The skies of our rowing universe are filled with ergs, and we have a supernova, a mostly full moon, and two half moons. If your rowing universe has some clear skies this weekend, you're also in for a great view of Saturn on the night of the vernal equinox. March is a great month for viewing planets....and seeing stars!

March Madness Challenge: Image That Pot o'Gold Still Gleams!

We're holding pretty steady on this one with 21 LunaTics still on the progress boards. Life happens and you can't always row (or row what you had planned!)....we've seen our number of participants go from 30 to 21 in the course of the last two and a half weeks. LunaTics are doing quite well compared to the overall rankings....overall participation reached a pinnacle of 5610 and is currently 1250....gives a whole new meaning to the ability to row some every single day.

Also, an explanation of the distances we celebrate for those who might be checking out the team forum:

Image a supernova designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent of 100,000 m in a 24 hr period (yep....we have one or two who do this)
Image a red giant designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of 50,000 m in a 24 hr period
Imagea full moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a full marathon 42,195 m in a 24 hr period
Image a half moon designates that the individual has rowed the equivalent or more of a half marathon 21,097 m in a 24 hr period
half or full marathons are completed in one sitting

Season meters as of 322/365 = 100,951,580 m

Total meters on the day = 354,996 m

Oars in space (participation) = 21 percent

MILESTONES...Bragging Rights....Celebrations:

6.6 MM Bart
1.9 MM Steven L

Image Bart with a 100,000 m posting in the last 24 hrs earns a supernova!
Image Will S posts 40,000 m and earns a practically full moon
Image Wild Bill ramps up the meters with a 32K posting and earns a half moon
Image And Queen of the Half Marathons, Minnie aka Chris, earns half marathon #218 on the rowing year

FIVE Million Meter Watch:

Barbara with (23,232 m) to go!
And thanks to all today's LunaTics....all the kinds of meters add up and contribute:

Tony ImageImageImageImage m ....still seeing things in threes
Kelly 4,999 m
MT 5,000 m
Rick 6,795 m
Karyn 6,853 m
K2 7,000 m
Gina 7,000 m
Dan 7,022 m
Mary 7,250 m
Peter G 7,500 m
Andre 10,000 m

Student 1 through Student 10 again this year. ...All rowing 200,000 meters in a week.... Anonymously..... With no year-long histories of mega-rowing in Concept's 7,500 m/d or 10,000 m/day list that would credit their conditioning.... From some kind of Correctional Facility... Hmmmm?

I TRIPLE DOG DARE
the Albion Student team leader to put at least names to their impressive rowers for the recognition they deserve! Seems all other teams list names? Otherwise I am skeptical that there are just 10 individuals!
