Well, my team pulled in from our road trip back home at 5 this morning. With that trip came a lot of great wins at the Augusta Invitational at Langley Pond in South Carolina. We won the Novice 4+, Varsity 8+, and took first and third in the V4+. Between all this, we managed to also win the points trophy over College of Charleston, Duke, University of Charleston-West Virginia and Davidson. A great day of racing for my whole team, especially those who dealt with the increasing chop all day. The headwind/chop got so bad that the V4+ was only .6 seconds faster than the N4+, and the V8+ was maybe 5 seconds faster than both.
Frustratingly enough when I said earlier in the week that I could sit out if they wanted to be sure to boat everyone, I didn't think I had done that badly in my seat racing, but apparently I was half a length behind the port they swapped me with (he's also 50 pounds bigger than me). So I decided not to enter my single (mistake), and just watched. I really did want all the novice to get a chance to race, and there ended up being two of them in the V8+, where I would have been had I not volunteered.
As for the singles race, I half felt I wasn't ready, but half was pretty intimidated by the field. There were 5 entrants from GMS, 1 from NYAC, and 1 from PennAC. After seeing them race (and seeing the times), I seriously wish I would have entered. Never going to pass up an opportunity like that again.

I was in the novice and varsity 4+ for College of Charleston yesterday. Excellent races in both events, and good luck to your team the rest of the season. Hopefully we'll race again at Vails or ACRA.
