PM2+

Post by larry1548 » March 4th, 2010, 10:24 am

I have a PM 2+ monitor and an Dell desktop computer (running XP-Pro) that I cannot seem to connect. The PM2+ works fine & so does the Dell. Has anyone else ever had the same problem?

There's folks running PM2+ with a USB to RS232 serial adapter. There's even one PM2+ user I know who used to run it on a Mac using bootcamp and a copy of Windows.

The place to start is in the hardware device manager. Can you see the COM: port in your Windows devices?

Open a DOS command window and try running the MODE command it should tell you what COM: ports can be seen by XP.
Try logging on to XP pro as the admin id (elevated privileges) rather than a stock user.

Try another serial device, try your USB to serial adapter in another USB port. Try re-installing the USB to serial device drivers.

I have a PM2+. As long as you have a serial port on the Dell it will connect directly. I used to use the E-Row software which if you have a copy of you can check the connection with. I had problems with conncetivity with the previous version of RowPro so I bought a KEYSPAN USB adapter. These come with software not just the driver so you can see exactly whats going on with the connection. Still had problems with reported "Noise" with RowPro and it was actually the RowPro software that was at fault. The problem is now fixed with V3 of RowPro and the PM2+ works no problems at all.
