Image Wowzer, mates! It's practically time for the famous Pot O Gold!

ImageWe have TEN weeks of the 2010 rowing season remaining....that's a bunch of time to get to your next milestones...or add to your lifetime meter totals! Get your Irish on for March 1st....those leprechauns will be leaping through Concept2's rowing list...randomly choosing winners from the 5K a day and 10K a day rowers for prizes. This team has some lucky crew members - it could be you next!

And (borrowing a reminder from PJM), if you're considering the half or full marathon distances for April, now is the time to put in those foundational longer rowing sessions. The full marathon pin (awarded ONCE per rowing year) is a sweet token of your success. I've asked the Concept2 folks to see if we can get a Finisher tee shirt via their supplier of choice (that means we buy them) for those who finish the half or full marathon distances in the April Marathon challenge...after all, those kinds of tees are available at similar running distance events. We'll see what happens! Just think of the bragging rights you would own with a half or full marathon in your history!? Shock and awe for sure.

That said, our sick bay overfloweth. Like many teams, we have been beset by injuries...we knew there were sea monsters out in those uncharted waters, and dang do they have some sharp teeth! It bears repeating that we want our teammates around for the long haul - take the time you need for healing - cheer on your teammates while you recover.

Meanwhile, back at the Space Station we are surrounded by half moons. Lefty rides the erg again, harnessing considerable will power and declaring that these meters take about twice the amount of time as previous meters.

Row On Luna-Tics

Post by DuluthMoose » February 21st, 2010, 10:58 pm

I heard Kona2 on the communicator so I thought I'd better check in. It has been 2 days in Florida and two great days canoeing so far. Hit 2 days of low 70's and mostly sunny, perfect weather; apparently the best weather they've had since December. I think we brought it down with us..... We paddled and helped the group saw our way down 11 miles of the Blackwater River yesterday. We were the first group down for the season and we had 5 log jambs to negotiate; and there were 4 in the group (including me) carrying formidable hand or pruning saws. We cleared out 3 of the jambs , carried over the logs on one, and one needs some major chainsaw work to open it up. We had to bushwack about 400 ft to get our canoes around that jamb, and I got introduced to a nasty vine that grows down here that is just like, and scratches like, barbed wired. It did take us 6 hours to make it to our take out on the Blackwater. Today we did 9 miles on the Ecofina River, with no "speed bumps", exploring 4 side cannels with major springs, in about 4 hours. Both rivers are clear fast water with sand bottoms, not really good gator home water, and so the only reptile we saw was one mud turtle. The next couple days we will be taking a day or two off from canoeing to travel to south Floirida (with some tourist type stops along the way). We will probably end up being awfully close to Naples. If I get there I suppose I could look up Pat M of Timbuktu and borrow a Concept for a row or two.

Congratulations to those Luna-Tics who have meet milestones. Hope those who are injured are healing well and soon can get back rowing.

What kind of misnomer is Blackwater then? I sure don't think of clear water....! You do have grand adventures!

Great job on the 2 mil, Stig!

Minnie, I am looking forward to seeing your tally for tomorrow. 200 half marathons for the season. You've got some major staying power there! You go, Girl!
