We'll call it a lifetime PB since I have no recollection of a timed 5K piece when I was a "rower" (I use the term loosely).
1000m splits: 1:49@29spm, 1:49@28spm, 1:49@28 spm, 1:46@29spm, 1:43@32spm

Were you meaning to PR or did you feel good then jump on it? I ask because you really brought the splits down in the last 2k.
PBs: 2k 6:09.0 (2020), 6k 19:38.9 (2020), 10k 33:55.5 (2019), 60' 17,014m (2018), HM 1:13:27.5 (2019)
Old PBs: LP 1:09.9 (~2010), 100m 16.1 (~2010), 500m 1:26.7 (~2010), 1k 3:07.0 (~2010)

Yeah, it kind of mirrored my race in Boston.
I wasn't sure how it would go, since I didn't really plan my training around it (CRASH-B's Sunday, Monday rest, moderate lifting yesterday) and just decided "Today, I'll have a go at 5K". I was, however, hoping to go sub 18:00 for the first time, so I started out conservatively with that goal in mind, keeping an eye on the projected time.
Once I reached the 3000m mark, I felt I could go faster so I did. I'll admit it's not an ideal strategy, but I hadn't done enough long hard erging recently to know exactly what to expect.

Did a 3:07.0 1k.. wasn't a PR attempt or anything but we had a tournament of 1k's today and my last one was a 1:33.5/500m
PBs: 2k 6:09.0 (2020), 6k 19:38.9 (2020), 10k 33:55.5 (2019), 60' 17,014m (2018), HM 1:13:27.5 (2019)

2k: 6:38.9. averaged 32-33 spm, forgot to get official number.
First official regatta today and it was a blast! Watching the other races was so much fun, especially the 4x500 relay which was really exciting.
In the men's open we had heats which I advanced from with a 6:52 or 6:53. The final was a few hours later and I was able to achieve my goal of sub-6:40. What really surprised me was the incredible difference of effort between the two rows, even though it was only 13 seconds. I don't wear a HRM but the first one seemed easy...just cruising at 26-27 spm. The PB time was the near blackout we all know and love.

Thanks Nav, much appreciated. Not sure about 6:30 form yet. I rowed what I think was a really good strategic race. Got it down to 1:40.2 about 250m in, then held it right there with almost every stroke at 1:40 until 500 left. Think I was at 1:40.1 with 500 left and finished it with whatever that adds up to. Didn't feel like I left anything on the table that's for sure.NavigationHazard wrote:I hurt, therefore I am
Congrats on the PB; I would have called 6:40 a lock for you going in but you never know how people will react to a first regatta. I think you're probably closer to 6:30 form than you give yourself credit for
