I had no control over the airlines.
I was standing at O'Hare International for six hours, trying to get a plane to Boston.
There weren't any.

They are unprincipled.

today
For instance, even though he was fully sharpened, with several months of predictive workouts in place, I find it surprising as hell that Mike VB missed his target time by a dozen seconds at WIRC.ranger wrote:Surprising things happen all the time.
How could that happen?
Who would have guessed that he was just slinging shit all that time about how he could beat Rocket Roy's WR?
Clearly, he didn't have a hope in hell of doing it.
All of his big talk was just a silly scam, empty posturing.
Lesson learned.
Don't believe anything you hear on the internet.

A bit grouchy today? That's always an effective and mature way to talk: resort to name-calling. By the way, that was a good idea yesterday to put some distance from Dougie's reference to Godwin's law (near the bottom of page 30) by inserting some pages of the usual claptrap. We wouldn't too many people seeing that, would we?ranger wrote:Just butt out, Byron.Byron Drachman wrote:Classical revisionism by Ranger. You lost your bet with Henry. I know dealing with dates must be difficult for you since you keep saying you will be 60 in a few days, but make an effort.
It's none of your damn business.
You're one of the biggest assholes I have ever encountered.
Just find a hole and crawl in it, where you belong.

I didn't do a 2K today.DUThomas wrote:Oh boy, it's Wednesday!!ranger on Feb. 15 wrote: So, now my 2K is 6:48.
On Wednesday, it will be 6:40--and an American record.
On Friday, it will be 6:32--and a world record.
Where's the screen shot?
I decided that a couple of days of work of various sorts at race pace and rate (1:34 @ 34-36 spm) would be more effective in getting my heart rate up for an extended period, which is what I need to most.
I'll still do a hard 2K on Friday, though, and then again on Sunday at Cleveland.
All of the rest of my time, outside of warm ups, will be devoted to race pace work.
I am now getting some good lung burn.

Good -- I was afraid your name-calling outburst this morning stemmed from erg-ile dysfunction. Glad to see it was just a change of plans.ranger wrote:I decided that a couple of days of work of various sorts at race pace and rate (1:34 @ 34-36 spm) would be more effective in getting my heart rate up for an extended period, which is what I need to most.

On the other hand, he can't risk going to Cleveland and pulling another 6:50-7:00+ in public. Better to test himself on Friday in the privacy of his own home, pull 6:50-7:00, panic, find some lame excuse, and DNS on Sunday.snowleopard wrote:Bullshit. After all, despite almost 2 months of sharpening, he hasn't done any predictor workouts apart from two 2K rows (a fly and die 7:11 and a steady 6:48), so he's pretty much in the dark about his chances of pulling sub-6:40.

I hear ya. I was going to go out and pull a 1:15 500 this morning but then got too busy. Not sure when I'm going to get around to it actually.ranger wrote:I didn't do a 2K today.DUThomas wrote:Oh boy, it's Wednesday!!ranger on Feb. 15 wrote: So, now my 2K is 6:48.

Don,t think so, it is pretty clear what he can do, the last few years he eventualy get's it right more or less and pulls 6.40/45 and let's be honoust that is not bad at all for his age and weight.
He could have been very competitive in the races that took place the last years.
The point is he has choosen is to stick to his 6.16 claim, maybe in the beginning he really did think, he had a change to get there, but he now knows for years that he will never ever come within a lightyear of that.
If we take 6.44 1.41 pace, to get to 6.16 1.34 he needs to generate 421 watt this is almost 24% more then he can do now. For a well trained person to gain that much is simply not possible.
Never ever! and his potential is getting less every day he ages. Which also showed in his results, although his racing is al over the place the underlying trend is clear, he get's slower every year.
Last year he got a 6.41 at the end, now he has a 6.48 at home, and this was done above the weightlimit.
I said HE was in the dark. I didn't say the rest of the world was.
