Yea, I agree.Byron Drachman wrote:I see that you have a very good chance of picking up some cash at Chicago rowing as a lightweight or even as a heavyweight unless somebody from the Lincoln Park Boat Club or some other rower in your class shows up.
That would be an excellent time to start paying Henry the money plus interest you owe him. Perhaps that would ease your conscience and put you in a better mood.
When I reach all of my targets, Henry, being an upstanding guy, will still be happy to pay me the $2000 he will owe me.
A WR, rowed anywhere, from now until Chicago, not just at Chicago, earns me $1000 from the Chicago venue.
I am registered for the "Record Challenge."

Gosh, how far were you off the pace the last time you rowed at WIRC?ranger wrote:Gosh.
For all his posturing here, I see that Jon Bone/NavHaz, pulling 6:30.8, was 19 seconds off the pace in his race at WIRC.
Nice work, prof -- you managed to get both his age and the sentence structure incorrect. At 52, John's age now, I rowed better than him as a lightweight at WIRC 2003.
As a washed up heavyweight masquerading as a lighweight, in your last WIRC, you pulled 7:04.3.I pulled 6:30 flat.
As a heavyweight, in my first WIRC, at 51, I pulled 6:28.5.
We'll have to do a lot of wait, because there won't be anything to see.I suppose we'll have to wait and see, but as a lightweight just a few days short of 60, I might well outpull Jon by a considerable margin this year.
Yes, your behavior and excuses certainly are! That's pretty embarrassing.
He at least gets the first digit right on his predictions. How many times have you turned in a 7+ minute row after predicting a new WR in recent years? 3, 4? How many times have you handled down?Jon often talks about threatening Dick Cashin's 55s hwt WR.
But at 52 and pulling 6:30, this is just wild overestimation.
Smarter, better looking, and a nicer guy, too. Cheer up, at least you could challenge him on the weightJon is a half a foot taller than I am and 100 pounds heavier.
The erg is a truth machine.
Indeed. And your last reading was "7:11"

That will be 6:40 on Wednesday.
No one my age and weight (or older) has ever rowed 6:40.
On Wednesday, that will be 6:32.
On Sunday, that will be 6:28--officially.
No lightweight 52 or older has ever pulled sub-6:30, much less 6:28, and the 52-year-old who did it was me.
I am now 59.
Paul Siebach, the 50s lwt WR-holder is now 51, but his 2K time has already ballooned up over 6:30 (6:31.1).
I'll try to beat Dennis Hastings' 55s lwt American record on Wednesday.
I will try to beat Rocket Roy's 55s lwt WR on Friday.
A lwt 6:28 at Cleveland would be just off-the-charts good, in the range of 15 seconds better than any lightweight has ever done at 59.

Yep, I was comparing myself to those 59 and over.
That's what I am.
A 59-year-old lightweight.
Yea, I'll have to get in a good AT 2K (e.g., 6:28) to be the best 50s lwt this year.
A UT1 effort won't do it.
I think I will get that AT effort this Sunday in Cleveland.
Top-end UT1 is 2K + 10.

Another error -- you ranked it as a lightweight. What a lying sack of excrement. The rankings should put a footnote by any result of yours submitted as a lightweight without a witnessed race weigh-in that reads "not bloody likely!" Nice custom age range, too. Wouldn't want the people with faster times showing up to confuse the issue, eh? If it will make you feel better about yourself, you can set the gender selector to "either" and have a bigger list, though the ranking software still won't put a "1" next to your name.ranger wrote: Nope.

I even question the row at all, it can be very well done by someone else. We will see what his next "witnessed" attempt will be.whp4 wrote:Another error -- you ranked it as a lightweight. I'll stick right on 1:40 @ 30 spm on Wednesday.
11.7 SPI
10 MPS
6:40 will be an American record, even for a 55-year-old.
The 60s lwt American record is 6:56, quite a drop off.
Next year, I'll send that record flying in the other direction.
If I can do 8 x 500m @ 1:34 twice this week, tomorrow and Thursday, together with another hard 2K, my heart rate might start reacting just fine, well enough to try 6:32 on Friday.
If I pull 6:32 on Friday, that will best the 5s lwt WR by a huge margin--6 seconds.
Then I will be ready to try 1:37 @ 32 spm on Sunday in Cleveland.
