I agree, betting is bad! Bad, betting, bad!

Instead, I'll GIVE you two beers in Boston it's under that, and you'll GIVE me one beer if it isn't (this factors in the DNF thingie)

In fact, when I am fully trained this year, I'll beat them both by a country mile.

7 seconds per 500m

Close to a mile in a 60min row

Except when it comes to racing eh Rich ?
Who is racing this year, Roy?

If you don't show up and race, who knows how fast you are?

I have been in lots of races and done well.

You weren't in them.

My lwt 2K pb is 6:28, done at BIRC when I was just shy of 53.

I have worked for five years now to improve on that.

I think I will, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see if I do.

Wish me luck.

Your best lwt row in a race so far is 6:38.

I wish you luck on improving that, too.

I have a month of hard sharpening ahead of me, and five races, to bring up my racing engines and bring down my 2K time.

These were the results last year, when I wasn't even preparing to race.

Everything is going off according to plan so far.

Got up, drank a little coffee, warmed up on the erg, and made weight.

So I am off to Cincinnati.

It's about 3:30 a.m. here.

Hope the weather isn't _too_ nasty on the roads.

It's about a four hour drive to Cincinnati from Ann Arbor.

What time is the main event folks?
Will it push the Super Bowl thingy off the sports papers :)
I will go for 6.49 or DNF, I read no mention of eating in Rich's earlier post, perhaps the weight still isnt fixed!

He is still around 165 pre work out he says, so he indeed is still in danger off a DN weigh in.
Remember a few bircs back, he overnight suddenly ballooned up  , if we believe him on his words then.

The time table is a few postings back. 10.00 I believe local time.

3:45 am, most likely (server time seems to be set a tad fast). Gonna be cutting it fairly close if the race actually is at 9:00 as scheduled and the meet is following Crash-B weigh-in guidelines. You might recall those specify a weigh-in between two and one hours prior to the specific event. This implies no later than 8 am if taken seriously. That in turn implies 4:15 at most to drive through Cincinnati, cross the Ohio into KY, find the venue, park, check in and weigh in. And it's 250-260 miles depending on how you get out of Ann Arbor....

His starting time is listed at 10:00:

http://www.cjrc.net/pdfs/Indoor_final_heats.pdf

In confess that I am surprised. I didn't think he would go.

Typical of Ranger, there is always something wrong. He listed himself as a member of University of Michigan. He is not a member of any rowing club as far as I know. He is not a member of the Varsity Crew or Crew Club at the University of Michigan. He should have listed himself as unaffiliated.

As his Caddy drifted down the road, our innovative and perpetually youthful bard of the erg thought about his race plan.
"Everyt'ing is going off to plan so far", he thought to himself. But I did just row for two hours on the erg to bring myself down to weight." He consulted his race plan over coffee, an excellent diuretic.

He saw lights, brightest in the heavens, shining on his name, on top of a list.

Dont think I would want to travel that far on the day for an early start time, too much left to chance there!
I did once travel from my house up to Glasgow area in Scotland for the Scottish IRC, 270 mile drive, I was a mere passenger though, think we had a 12 noon start time then. Stopped over the night after for lots of beer :)

Do we have a cub reporter awaiting in Cincinatti, trench coat, cap, notebook etc!!

I have been in lots of races and done well.

You weren't in them.
And how many rowing races has Rich done in the 2010 season which began May 1 2009 (Concept 2's "New Year") ? So when ranger says he has been in "lots of races": I wonder: 'Which are those in the last nine months?'

Answer as of Feb. 6 , 2010… None reported....

& (!) The “races” where Rich rowed in ’09 did not include any other 55-59 lwts as far as I recall. ROY, OTOH, showed for the big one… Boston: and won

The afficiandos of our minute age-group will remember that in Feb. '09 Roy posted the WB time. Later, Rich "time-trialed" his 6:41.. 2 seconds faster than Roy. In 2009 Rich boasted that he would reset the WR with each and every row. (I'm not kidding!) All of this was documented in his C2.uk blog which he has since deleted {poof!}.
Thanks for cleaning up cyberspace, Rich.

That reminds me of my father-in-law. Many years ago, before ads in bad taste were commonplace on TV and radio, Preparation H was looking for a way to make a commercial that would be acceptable on the radio. They had a contest going among advertising companies for a jingle that would be OK. My father-in-law worked for an advertising company at the time so he submitted a jingle. It did not win:
Use Preparation H and kiss your hemorrhoids goodbye.

Ooh, can you check the weigh-in?

Good luck with your own race! Let's not forget what's really at stake!
