Why would he want to do that? When the time for racing comes around -- there _is_ a time for racing you see -- you are never ready.
Ah.

Is that why I have three WR rows and Mike hasn't come within a light year of a WR?

He is ready.

I am never ready.

Ah.

ranger
Why is your first race ever, from years still your Pb?

Mike is still improving, you won,t have a change in hell of beating him hahahaha, you poor racing mentality has always letten you down, you simply can,t race against someone else.

Again a no show In Boston this year.

You don't have three WR rows under the training regime that you are currently following, do you? And that's the one that you are proposing that Mike follows.

Ah.

Wow.

You think that, at 60 years old, a month of training, working every day, taking no rest days, with each day consisting of (1) an hour of 11.7 SPI @ 22-30 spm, then (2) an hour of intervals, of various sorts, at 11.7 SPI, 36 spm @ 11.7 SPI, capped by (3) two to three hours of cross-training at 20 mph on my bike, is not enough to get ready to row a 2K?

Then I don't know what to say.

Seems adequate to me.

More that that.

Seems _perfect_ .

No one my age has ever worked so hard to get ready to race.

To each his own, I guess.

No reason to be impatient, Roy.

A month of intervals, 1:34 @ 36 spm, is a lot.

Over the month, I'll try to push them down to 1:31.

Your best last year for 8 x 500m (3:30 rest) was 1:37.

No reason to be impatient, Roy.

If I do 8 x 500m (3:30 rest) @ 1:34 over the next month, I will be three seconds better than the WR-holder was last year (therefore, given aging, even more than that this year and yet even more than that next year).

If I do 8 x 500m (3:30 rest) @ 1:31, my target, the game is totally out of control.

I will be in the range of seven seconds per 500m better than the WR-holder.

30 seconds in a 2K.

Half a minute.

Right now, as a 55s lwt, for me, 1:34 @ 36 spm is WR pace - 5.5.

When I turn 60 next year, 1:34 @ 36 spm is WR pace - 6.5.

I am puzzled by all the negative comments here.

What we are about to experience over the next month is a convincing demonstration of the relative ineffectiveness of current training methods in indoor rowing in favor of a new, more effective, and therefore exciting alternative.

When this happens in sport, it opens up the possibility of a large step forward for the whole rowing community.

That is, when I best the 40s lwt WR at 60, it will be clear that if the rowing community just adopted my training methods, everyone would benefit.

The fatal flaws of current training methods would be exposed and discarded for better alternatives.

And everyone would end up a winner.

The only fatal flaw around here is the fact that you think you're going to turn 60 within the next 24 hours.

You promised the screen shot of your monstrous 500m repeat workout before you left for the race. Is that going to happen later today, or did you forget to take the picture? It's still in memory if you want to go back and snap a photo for us.

What are yours... A know you have a 2k at 6:41.0... What else, for the record..... None have ever been posted... Puzzling since you are now rowing (in your words) perfectly.
