Rugby Training
I just ordered a C2 today and am anxious to begin training once it arrives. I play in a Texas rugby union and wanted to know if anyone had a suggestion for cross-training workouts on the C2? I looked over the rugby link on the C2 website and got a few basic ideas, but I am looking for even more ways to challenge myself on the rower. Any thoughts?
Re: Rugby Training
I am the sideline trainer for a Super League Team - Old Puget Sound Beach. I suggest that you think in terms of a half of rugby - so plan on 40 minute rows. Then because interval training is the key to fitness and also approximates the action cycles in a rugby match, I suggest that you do short sprints - 30 seconds to a minute at a time throughout the 40 minutes, allowing yourself to recover to 20 strokes per minute while maintaining your power output. As soon as you recover your respiration to a slightly above average level, then increase your stroke rate to 27 or 30 and pull as hard as you can for 30 seconds to a minute again and repeat the cycle for the 40 minutes.....
