You aint 60 for another year, older and weaker :)

Steve
When I was 50, I pulled 9 SPI in my distance rowing.

Next year, when I am 60, I will pull 11-12 SPI.

Solid improvement.

Delighted with this.

I haven't gotten weaker or stronger, but I am now a much more skillful rower.

This forum was _very_ useful as an introduction to rowing, back when I took up the sport in 2001.

It was also fun to chat with everyone here as I built up to and accomplished my WR rows in 2003.

Over the past five years or so, I have even enjoyed talking about learning to row.

These things are pretty much in the past now, though.

I am no longer a novice.

I now row well.

And being older but better, more WRs seem inevitable, as far into the future as I want to go.

So nothing more to say about this issue, either.

My workouts have now reached their own sort of steady state.

For now on, both for the remainder of this year and off into future years, I will just hold to the sort of work I am doing now--distance rowing, then sprints, then cross-training, pretty much every day.

That will keep me race ready.

In all, I like to put in about four hours a session, in the early morning before dawn.

So there is nothing else to say about that, either.

Given this, I think I won't post here anymore.

It is clear that what I have been saying about my goals and being the best I can be isn't appreciated.

So there is really no reason to go on with it.

If some new project crops up, I'll start posting again.

Perhaps when I am building up to my first row OTW at the Head of the Charles in a couple of years.

But for now, I think I'll just stay away from here.

There is no longer anything here that I find useful or encouraging.

Good luck to everyone.

See you at the races.

ranger you are so o predictable. You do this every year because it suits to say nothing about your results. Funny that. But hey, don't you worry, we'll be watching.

He will be back in no time, he can,t help himself, although around his racing he tends to stay quiet a bit more, I wonder why

He was ignored in his UK blog for months so he stopped posting on it in September, he does crave attention and leave himself wide open for criticism.

We really don't need Ranger while he takes his time out. We all know what he is going to say. He recycles the same few things over and over. Until the return of our beloved troll, if you need your daily fix perhaps some people can volunteer to make up a rangeresque posting or recycle an older one the way he has done for all these years: Here is my contribution for today:
Thurs Aug 24, 2006:
No, I didn't know how to row fully until a couple of months ago.
My focus over over the last four years has not been to compete. I was already the best (for my age and weight). There wasn't anywhere to go from there.
My focus over the last four years has been to get better.
Over the last four years my competition has gotten about 10 seconds slower.
We'll see, but I think I have gotten about 10 seconds faster.
That is a swing of 20 seconds!
If this works out as I think it will, the dedication to the task was well worth it.

Our erstwhile hero does love the attention and was definately the reason he stopped blogging on the UK forum.People stopped responding because of his shameful non paying of the wager with Henry. He was`nt getting the required ego boost so he switched, as did i.....It must be love!

It's funny, a couple of months ago I was thinking how slow the forum had become since John Rupp went back to running, and Paul Smith had pretty much stopped posting. We didn't have their volleys back & forth at each other, then Ranger came along, and I really regretted my thoughts. Now he's gone again. Hopefully, relative peacefulness will once again reign supreme.

Cheers, Paul S

What a crock! How many times have you had this little hissy fit? Every year just before the races start!

Yes - true. But it is also the total lack of respect you show for any of your competitors as well as going on endlessly about having the same stroke as world class LW rowers, which by the way, you don't.

I relish the break.

Good - now I feel better! :D

You have no interest in being appreciated or respected by anybody here. You don't respect anybody here so the reciprocity means little to you. If you want to be appreciated all you'd have to do is show a simple screenshot of one of these outrageous rows you do on a daily basis...everybody will eat crow and heap praise upon you.

I've been wondering what would happen when you got to that point in your training where you would have to be doing the rows you talk about in order to accomplish your goals. Today is that time and I guess I have my answer. Not exactly what I was hoping to see. Oh well, I just hope you are in Indy so either yourself or everybody else can be proved wrong.

I'm relatively new to rowing, so I guess I would be classified as a 'newbie' per one of the posters (about 25 pages back). I've been following this thread for a few weeks now and constantly have been waiting for evidence of these amazing feats that ranger claims to acheive. I guess I'll never get the proof.

Could one of you loyal thread followers please post his results in this thread following Jan 30? The suspense as to his performance is killing me. I've been waiting and waiting to find out if he'll blow away the competition or if he'll just prove to be a blowhard (it sounds like many of you already know the answer to this), but I just need to know what happens!!!!!

By the way, who in the world has 4-6 hours a day to spend exercising? Can this really be real????

I have been on my C2 for about a month. I'M much better than that now. Did alot of foundational rowing. Im much better than that now. My 500 meter time was 2 minutes BUT Im much better than that now.

I am currently at my max HR for all training and typical session is 1 hour at 36 SPM with a 1minute 49second split. That was last week. Did I mention, Im much better than that now.

I will be at Indianapolis and predict a 6 minute 27 second 2K. Actually by that time Ill be much better than I am now.

Sorry for the bragging I have a bad case of Cureton syndrome.
