I might try that tomorrow, e.g., midnight to noon.

I will try to do six hours today to work up to it.

Together, the 18 hours on my bike over these two days should melt off about 5 pounds of blub.

Fuel?

Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.

Yiummy.

At just over 20 mph, in 12 hours, I will should cover just about 250 miles.

Seems extreme to me, trouble with your weight?
FYI: It's impossible to loose 5lbs of fat in 2 days..

Chad: Please pay attention.

If you're nice he'll show you the flux capacitor that he has mounted on the handle bars of his bike.

Our maestro did not say fat... he said "blub" (!)

He obviously referring to the phlogiston theory of weight loss in which "blub"-reduction most assuredly figures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlogiston_theory

Using astute rangerLogik he will certainly "melt blub" employing reverse osmosis x-tra double-oxidative phlogiston theory.

The key to an understanding of which is that the element Gj (grapefruit juice) on ranger's periodic table has hidden negative weight factors that are released when one drinks it and then rides a bike.

Let's hope that JuiceLady doesn't get worn out in the meantime.

You backed out of your hundred mile ride a few weeks back, even though_it_was_with_breaks to change the CD every hour, how do you intend to do it through the night, position your pillow on the handlebars!
You are not going at 20mph all the time, any cyclist will tell you that, you obviously have minimal resistance on the wheel.
On my biggest gear on the road 53 X 12 70rpm gives 24.4 mph/ very easy to maintain on a turbo with low resistance, like riding on air!

No, it's not minimal resistance, so it's not at all like riding on air.

I lose about a kg. of water an hour in sweat.

That's a good indicator of how hard I am working.

As I mentioned, when I tested how hard I was working on a reclining bike in a fitness room, not working as hard, the machine said I was doing 900 cal/hour.

When I step, I do 1150 calories per hour, and it feels something like that.

Yes, I am going 20 mph.

I only sleep five hours.

No one is here.

So, I will just go to bed early (7 pm), get up at midnight, and ride until noon.

Wish me luck!

Yes, I did six hours today (plus 90min on the erg).

Over the Christmas holidays in 2003, I erged 14 hours one day (167K), in all, 1.2 million meters in the Holiday challenge, about a FM a day for a month.

1:45 @ 26 spm, what I have been doing in my distance rowing, is 1350 cal/hour.

This is faster than your 2K pace.

Why do you insist on posting such nonsense? You "cover" exactly 0 miles in 12 hours on your trainer. YOU ARE NOT MOVING!

Is that such a hard concept to grasp? "Speed" and "distance" data from an uncalibrated, cheapo mag trainer are meaningless.

Rowing sets the mind racing with great thoughts, and that is a splendid example of auto-didactic, brilliant thinking. A long indoor bike ride will certainly help you get dehydrated so you can get a nice low reading on your scale and assume that is a loss of body fat.

If he imagines he can ride at 20mph for twelve hours he should be challenging Lance Armstrong for all the 2010 bike races; Tour Down Under, Tour of Calif, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta Espana and the big one The Tour de France.

It'll be good to see ranger up there on the podium next to Lance and Bradley for the GC, next to the Manx Missile and Stuart O'Grady for the green jersey and next to David Moncoutié or Franco Pellizotti for the polka dot KOM jersey. He's clearly needs to come and ride the UK Cycling Time Trial's National 12hour event as he'll easily take the veteran's prize.

Alternatively, we can once more dismiss him as a complete arsehole. Which is probably closer to reality.

Yes, I agree.

The cross-training on my bike is the most important part of my training.

Yes, I agree.

Weight loss is just about calories in, calories out.

If you burn 12,000 calories in one day on your bike, there are quite a few calories out.

A week of cross-training in one ride.

I would be happy to challenge Lance to a 12-hour erg.

Let's set it up.

It would be funny watching him row, maybe even as funny as watching him run.

The kg. of water per hour is just an indication of the intensity of the work done.

If you do anything that produces so much sweat that it sloshes around in your shoes (etc.), a liter an hour, you are working hard.

It ain't walkin'.

12 hours should be no problem at all.

That's only twice as far as I went today.

One wonders how you fit six hours on the stationary bike into two hours thirty-five minutes' clock time, as measured by the server.... Wait, wait, don't tell me. Your rowing happens in Bersonian time, and because it felt like six hours it must have been.

What an amazing discovery! Why, I'll bet you can do the full 12 hours in thirty minutes flat, if you put your mind to it. And you probably can play Chopin's Minute Waltz in just over five of our seconds, give or take a grace note....
