I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
Distance trials and AT workouts over the next three weeks should tell me clearly where I am in terms of 2K.
BTW, just to keep oriented, given that I will be 59 at the end of the month, WR pace for me is in and around 6:42, the 60s lwt WR.
So pulling 6:28 would not be an insignificant gesture.

No no ranger. Your prediction is a 6:16 and a general re-writing of the record books at all distances.
As much as you crave another WR in a minor division of a minority sport, 6:42 is most certainly not the target against which you will be measured.
So let's not try to fudge the issue eh? Especially as your preparation has been, by your own admission, perfect.
I mean six years learning how to row a 6:42. That would make you look a bit silly, no?

My mention here is of pulling 6:28, not 6:42.
Pulling my pb of seven years ago in my first race of the year at the end of January, without even sharpening for it, might not make me look _too_ silly, especially given that it is 10 seconds under the 55 lwt world record.
Then, as I said, the task in February will be to raise the rate from 32 spm to 36 spm and push it to the limit, both in training and in racing.

Well, WR's arent pro-rated.. the age group is 55-59, that's it. A person doesnt get "extra points" for breaking an age group WR when they are close to the top of the age band. In any case, at 58, you arent even in the top 20% of that age group band yet.
I would agree that the best you are going to do this racing season is 6:42, and also agree that it would be quite a achievement.
however
these threads are never about the significance of you coming close to setting a new WR, these threads are always about your claims that you will decimate the WR by an order of magnitude.
You're the one that is setting the standard by which you're rowing is to be evaluated (a 6:16 2K), not the rest of the folks on the forum

Yeah he knows that the races are coming up so the time to start finding excuses is also coming up, last year "he would also row 6.16", now we only here "he was number one in the rankings. That he rowed 40/50 seconds above that 6.16 , on average is swepted under the carpet
Also him being totaly being burned up around wirc, so not being able to compete, is never mentioned anymore
There also that little thing called the bet

I am not much interested in particular races or time schedules.
When I said my preparation has been perfect, my reference was to what has preceded sharpening in my training.
I should be successful in sharpening, I think, because of what I have done in foundational rowing and pre-sharpening.
I am rowing right on my targets.
Delighted with that.
Now we will have to see how sharpening goes.
I couldn't have done any better with my foundational rowing and pre-sharpening, so I think sharpening will go well.

We already know how sharpening goes. As you have strenuously asserted on many many occasions, you gain 12 seconds over a 2K.
You predict, or rather you anticipate, that you will row 6:28 at Indianapolis solely on the basis of foundational training -- a PB. Your cast iron 12 seconds gained through sharpening then gets you to 6:16 (at 155 lbs) sometime during the 2009/10 racing season.

Yep.
Losts of AT work to do over the next three weeks.
That should get me to 6:28.

Beautifully relaxed riding at 20 mph now on my bike, in fact, so relaxed, I think I could do it all day.
I might try that tomorrow, e.g., midnight to noon.
I will try to do six hours today to work up to it.
Together, the 18 hours on my bike over these two days should melt off about 5 pounds of blub.
Fuel?
Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.
Yiummy.
At just over 20 mph, in 12 hours, I will should cover just about 250 miles.
