So you say.
But are you right?
You are right that I don't know how things are going to come out.
Sure, I am now in new territory with my project of learning to row well.
But you are wrong that I am in the same place as I have been for the last seven years.
This year, things are going _very_ well.
I now have a beautifully relaxed distance stroke at 10 MPS, right up the 10 MPS ladder.
Amazingly, I now do 1:47 @ 28 spm (10 SPI) at right around a UT2 heartrate, 145 bpm.
Why?
I am only at half slide.
I use this stroke when I warm up.
When I lengthen out a bit, a get 1:43 @ 29 spm (11 SPI), keeping the ratio constant.
And when I lengthen out to my racing stroke, I go 1:40 @ 30 spm (11.7 SPI).
11.7 will be my racing SPI.
The goal before the end of January will be 4 x 2K, 1:40 @ 30 spm, pulling right at 10 MPS and my racing SPI, 11.7 SPI.
That will predict a 1:36./6:24 2K.
Another goal over the next month will be 5K, 1:40 @ 30 spm (11.7).
That predicts a 6:20 2K.
Then I will hold it at 11.7 SPI but lift the rate to 36-40 spm, trading rate for pace as much as possible, and push it to the max for 8 x 500 (3:30 rest) during February.
I started a pretty severe diet yesterday.
I am now losing weight--hand over fist, heading for 160 lbs, 10% body fat, by the end of January.
Great set up at home now in order to get all of this done.
Vacation from work.
And no one is here.
Just me and the spiders on the wall.
And my bike, erg, and jump rope.
So for the next two weeks, I can be my crazy physical self to my heart's content.
Time to let it rip.
