Hi all you Ducks and friends of Ducks. Our team DAFT--Ducks and Friends Together is available for sign up. Go to your logbook, Teams link and sign up for the team and then also confirm you are joining the January Virtual Challenge. New members are always welcome. The teams page is quite user friendly, but email me if you have any questions. Denise

I'm baaack! 6000m 3-4 times a week is about what my joints will put up with-but hey, it gets my metabolism up which is what I need to lose a few pounds.

Seattle person-want to race? (just kidding unless you give me an age handicap)

Or anyone else need a slow and steady compatriot? I need someone to remind me that rowing is a high priority. I'll try to return the favor.

Hi Grams, Great to have you back on the Ducks & Friends Together team... Every meter counts. I'm doing less now since my shoulder surgery in July, but it feels so good. Let's try to check in here on the forum as we progress. Denise

What surgery did you have? I know from experience that tendon tweaking takes a long time to heal completely, but its worth it in the long run to regain the use of that part of the body.

My husband is scheduled for rotator cuff reattachment in 2 weeks. I expect I will get some exercise by simply fetching and carrying for him. I do need to make rowing an equal priority.

Anyone else out there have a story for me about rotator cuff surgery?

Surgery

Post by Surf Scoter » January 4th, 2010, 11:03 pm

Hi Grams, I had my right rotator cuff repaired on July 31st. I tried to rehab it myself for months, but there was a pretty good sized tear, so surgery was the fix. It takes a while to rehab--at least 3 months for much movement. I now have almost all my range of motion back and have no pain. Interestingly, rowing was not a problem and caused me no pain, even with the tear. It was one of the first things I was able to do. Advice to your husband--follow all rehab instructions and DO THE EXERCISES religiously and you will most likely have a good outcome.
