Gina 8,036 m (putting in some extra meters as she rows for the goal!)
Actually squeezing more meters in to the same time. During November I rowed 2,730 m more than July, AND I did it in 11.5 fewer minutes! I was really pleased with yesterday's effort - 8,000 m in 35 min, a personal best. It's fun to see the avg pace fall.

The 3 million lifetime mark is only 59,934 meters away!

Gina: I noticed your splits on FB yesterday and they must have sparked my competitive streak ... found myself pulling much harder last night. However, I can hardly bend my right knee this morning, so I think I'll just retreat back into my comfort zone! (Plus the fact I didn't know what to do with myself until the movie ended!)

You're making great progress, Bish! You'll reach your first 100,000 m in just a short time at the rate you're going!

Wikipedia says sprues are for injection molding....what did you make? And why do you grind them up?
Thanks! I'm really amazed myself at how quickly I've taken to rowing, I love it, I've lost about five pounds so far but what is really telling to me is that I feel so much better than I did 2 weeks ago. I've been trying to add at least a minute to my row time each day. Today I added 2 and it was quite a workout hehe.

The sprues: I used to work as a web designer for a company called Games Workshop. They make the games Warhammer and Warhmmer 40,000 which are strategy games played with miniatures that you build and paint yourself. Kind of like a model kit. The sprues are left over after you put together the miniatures. The picture is actually from a web article I wrote about how to re-cycle the left over sprues to make terrain for the games, rather then just tossing them away. In this case grinding them up to make rubble. The picture was meant to look a bit goofy hehe.

The Baz & Tomo routine has been a bit hit and miss the last couple of days....travelling with work and athletic training...

Anyway..will be away for about 10 days as we head off to Perth for a family holiday B) ; not sure if there will be an ERG close by. So we'll need to get cracking on the challenge when we return.

Tomo might get one last row in today......Row strong....
Cheers BBB & Tomo

Gina -- Congrats on the personal best. Keep up the good work! You're cruising to the moon. I just checked and it turns out I'm not that far behind you. I have 80,518 to go until I hit my 3 million lifetime mark as well. Pending no unexpected injuries or ailments, I'll hit it by Christmas.

Bart looked a little lonely over there holding down the Luna-Tics fort all by himself, so I pumped out some quick metres to keep him company :)

Make that 2 Luna-Tics on the 200K Honor Board - room for many more :P

Hehe we'll... it's actually the symbol for Mothra (as in Godzilla vs. Mothra) But it's also the tattoo I have on my leg hehe. I'm a bit of a movie geek and Mothra was one of the first movies I remember watching as a kid. The tattoo was a gift from a close friend when I got my first job in the film industry many years ago. My cats are named Godzilla and Mothra as well lol. So that symbol has many meanings for me.

Mothra...

Post by Kona2 » December 3rd, 2009, 2:13 pm

Image Godzilla movies were some of the best Saturday viewing! I don't remember Mothra, and certainly didn't recognize the symbol. From our fav Wiki references, it looks that Mothra can be a good protector against the dark side of the Universe....unless she is the dark side....bwaa aaa aa (evil laugh)

In the Mothra Trilogy, Mothra displayed a wide use of energy-projection abilities; ranging from triple prismatic beams from her forehead, to energized tackles, to her Sun Strike Buster, a very potent attack that comes from the sky like a sacred lightning bolt. Good to know!

Biking

Post by denver_bill » December 3rd, 2009, 4:47 pm

It's been cold in Denver these last couple of days. It is supposed to warm up to - like 30 - by the weekend. I would like to do some biking but at 30 degrees, water bottles have a habit of freezing. That really sucks when that happens. I'll stay on the erg.

1,000,000 Meters

Post by denver_bill » December 3rd, 2009, 11:41 pm

I made 1,000,000 lifetime meters tonight. I know that's not anything like a lot of team members, but I'm just getting started.

1,000,000 meters is 621.37 miles. Google says it is 622 miles (probably rounded) from Coors Field in downtown Denver to Yellowstone. So I guess I'm in Yellowstone right now. :D It's cold and snowy. Wait a minute that's what it's like in Denver. Brrrrrr..........

Congratulations Denver Bill, It's a big milestone. Once I got mine I couldn't wait to get my next one, then the next. Now I'm closing in on number 4. I couldn't have done it without the encouragement of the rest of the team and a little friendly competition. Hang in there.

To the Moon!!!
