Yikes.

No comparison.

Mike did his 6:18 when he was a youngster.

Just 40.

He hasn't come close to that since.

6:18 at 40 is the equivalent of 6:38 at 60.

Last year, Mike rowed 6:35.

He is now 47.

BTW. as I have said many times, if you are rowing well, I think that the schedule of rates and paces for the upper reaches of the various training bands as reported in the old C2 training manual are right on.

In this old training manual, 1:47 @ 24 spm is UT1 for a 6:28 2K.

Yep.

11.9 SPI

"Facts"?

Haven't you been listening?

The erg is not a "fact"-machine.

It's a truth machine.

And the facts are not the truth.

The truth is rhythmic.

Name that tune.

Go with the flow.

If you can go with with flow, 1:47 @ 24 spm, for 30K, you can pull 1:34 for 2K.

So tune in!

And stay tuned.

has The Ranger beaten my WR (unofficially) yet?

Do I need to go again yet?

Western philosophers have never gotten anywhere near it.

Truth is rhythmic/temporal.

Western philosophy has been distracted by space.
This is more ignorant gibberish. Truth is unconscious? Jesus ...

No everything he says is pointed at 6.16, that is not to motivate himself but to put down the 6.18 Mike Caveston HAS ROWED.

last season he mised that by "only" 25 seconds  what will it ne this year 27 ? Or would it be better to wait another year ?
Just distance rowing at the moment, Henry.

If you do you could show a session  but then again we would see how slow you do these rows so that's not gonna happen. Your hole cardshouse of lies would fall to pieces.

No
My Predictions:
He never will break the lwt 55 WR. (He might get a 60+ WR.)
And he never will pay Henry the money he owes him.
He will keep posting as long as people respond.
Enough people will respond to his drivel to keep him posting.

I hope to be fit enough by the time I'm 60 to attack that record. I'm 60 in 16 months and I'm starting the comeback now. I'm fit for racing the bike but not for erging at the moment.

did 4k. experimented with the time intervals racing the pace boat. had it set at 30 sec row 10 sec rest at 1:58 500/m pace. not too bad, tomorrow I am going to try it at 1 min row 15 sec rest at 1:55 pace and see how many intervals I get.

Once you row well, clearly, the trick to distance rowing is just to learn to row steady state at a high rate, 28-30 spm.

At low rates and high stroking powers (i.e. in your foundational rowing), effectiveness is the issue.

In distance rowing, the issue is efficiency.

Play around with your stroke, making small little modifications here and there, until you can do it at a high rate with just a steady, contained effort for a substantial amout of time (e.g., 60min/HM).

In and around 11 SPI seems to be a groove for me when I do this.

1:43 @ 29 spm (10 MPS, 11 SPI)

Interestingly, no veteran rower, of whatever weight, can come anywhere near doing this.

No one who is rowing well pulls less than 11 SPI, even in distance rowing.

But the 50s hwt WR for 60min is 1:46/17K.

No 60s lwt has pulled better than 1:52/16K for 60min.

At 29 spm, 1:46 is 10 SPI.

At 29 spm, 1:52 is 8.5 SPI.
