if u have to choose only one piece equipment..

Post by fulham » November 8th, 2009, 4:25 pm

most fitness experts say that if i have to choose only one piece of equipment for my home, it would be an adjustable bench and a pair of adjustable dumbells.

but i think concept2 rowing machine is an opponent.

people who use concept2 say that u can work most of your muscles with only rowing machine + u will have a perfect coniditon.

what do u think? if u have to choose one, will it be rowing machine or a homegym, adjustable bench with dumbells ,etc?

You keep asking basically the same question and getting basically the same answer. This is a forum centered on indoor rowing. We obviously will suggest getting an ergometer in the first place so that you can actually do any rowing. Just buy the machine already and start working out and maybe even start posting your training. Then worry about buying your own gym... Just talking about buying/using an erg or any other piece of equipment won't do a d@*n thing for you. Make sure you actually know how to row properly before you start at it, too, or otherwise you'll just be wasting your time and exposing yourself to injury.

Over the years I have purchased a lot of home gym equipment, most of which did little more than collect dust after the first week. My weakness is that I have a hard time going it alone and would rather have some social element. I think a large part of what has kept me going on the C2 for 2 years is the fact that you can row with (or against) others in real time on Rowpro. Rowpro is rowing software you run on your PC while connected to the C2 by USB. It turns the erg into an online multiplayer video game that makes you fit. The live events are also an awesome experience:

For that matter, olympic gold medalists have competed at some of these comps:

The point is that this is a high quality machine, not some toy.

Also the many challenges, like the www.c2ctc.com , www.nonathlon,com and the C2 rankings add a competivie element and you can always find someone comparable to you to compete with.

Good luck. Also take comfort that the C2 commands strong resale value if you decide you don't like it - its hard to find one on ebay cheap enough to justify not getting a new one.

If you've got the money, get the C2 1st. Start training on it, and every month put the money you'd be spending on a gym membership away in a savings account, cookie jar or whatever. In no time you'll have enough to buy your 1st piece of weightlifting equipment. I'd watch for sales on full or 1/2 racks a nice bench, and a 300# oly weight bb set.

If it's the "beach body" you're after, then worry about getting lean 1st, and big muscles second. Chicks dig a six pack way more than a gut and big bi's.

What is your obstacle......money or space. If the problem is money, I would suggest finding a used Model C on craigslist. They can be had for $400 (on average). While you are there, look for a bench and some weights. I have foud a number of really good deals on weight sets (bench, rack and 300lbs) for $200 and under.

If the problem is space, then I would suggest the C2. It takes up very litte space.

Also, what are your fitness goals....endurance, general fitness, strength, weight loss?

my obstacle is space.
i ve empty place for only one equipment. i can purchase concept2 or a homegym.
most people say, u cant have a brad pitt body with a rower. but u can have with a homegym
and that makes me thinking of a homegym.
they say i cant have muscles with a cocnept2 rower.only lean body

He looks real cool sporting that 'i'm about to shit my pants' look. Seriously though, don't be like the hundreds of frat guys I see doing wrist curls and bench pressing and wondering why their beer gut doesn't go away. Cardio first then worry about putting muscle mass on.

If space were the issue, you wouldn't be getting a home gym. They take up a bunch of space. Trust me, I jst sold mine. Buy the C2 and get into sime cross fitting. You would be amazed how muscle you can build with push ups, pull ups and one legged squats.

Too funny

He would'nt look half as impressive if his body fat were 25%. Cardio 1st, the muscle will come with time. Train smart. Eat smart.

PS: Just think of all the other benefits of improving your cardio. BP, Cholesterol, Resting HR, Metabolism, etc. These things are much more affected by improvement of your cardio. Get the cardio in order, and you'll be in that much better place to build muscle. In the meantime, you can do body weight exercises.

I personally don't think this guy will pay attention to anything anyone tells him on this forum. Maybe another Ranger in training.

narcissists can get a body like that doing push ups, pull-ups and such. save on the equipment and buy yourself a bigger mirror.
