What a weekend! It started out with a beautiful night of fishing Friday night (weather couldn't have been more perfect, but we were skunked once again). Then UW beat UNLV in football on Saturday. On Sunday, the Broncos creamed the Raiders & the Rockies beat the Cards with the most awesome double play I've ever seen (in person). The second baseman was absolutely horizontal when he made the line drive catch, hit the ground hard, picked himself up, and then threw to first for the last out. It's interesting how a great sports weekend can affect my Monday!

It was hard to get in all of the rowing, but staying on track has become important to me. I would love to say that the extra rowing is helping me with my weight loss plateau, but it's just making me hungrier!! I'm still doing several shorter rows; maybe I'll try for fewer, longer sessions. Wish I could row faster, that's for sure.

The team is doing great! Together we are strong!

Hey Linda, forgive a stupid question from a non-fisherman, but when you say you got "skunked", you surely don't mean you've become a victim of one of those cute little black-and-white guys, right? I should know this, since both my brothers fish, but I've never heard it!

Edited to add, Congrats on the 200k!

The movie thing is really helping the boredom factor with me and letting me row longer. There's NO WAY I'd have the meterage I've got now without the distraction. It's so different from running where I can go for one or two hours and not get bored in the slightest (outdoors, that is). But for sure I don't go fast! I try to keep my heart rate above 70% on the long rows, which for me makes a split time of around 2:40+, at a stroke rate of 19-20. Comfortable for a long haul.

Row strong everybody!

Have been ultra busy at work and didn't row today (gasp). Was sort of liberating experience.

Hope to get back in the saddle soon. Keep it real and ROW STRONG :D

We've always used the term "skunked" to mean we didn't catch anything. I'm not a pro so I have no idea whether or not that's the correct terminology. What was even worse on Friday was the fact that we didn't even get any strikes (nibbles). We fished at sunset with a quarter moonrise, so we should have had something. It was calm and not too cold; the night was clear and the stars were beautiful. The lake is only 30 minutes away from town.

Rockies update: I just heard that the great line drive catch by Clint Barnes on Sunday was actually dropped, so the double play should not have happened! Well, a W is a win & they can't take it away... So sad, too bad for the Cards, but I imagine it made up for some of the bad pitch calls earlier in the game!

Congrats to Pats & Packers, too, for their Sunday wins!

It took a couple of months to get back, but I am now the very last person on the last page of the 10,000 meter board. The rest of the fall challenge will help me build up some meters for the days that I know I will miss over the upcoming holidays. Thanks team! Without the competiition, I would not have stuck to so many daily meters over the past two weeks.
