I like it! :) I had to dink around with mine. Make sure that there is no linefeed or carriage return or spaces between the [url] and [img] codes:

[url=http://www.tickerfactory.com/whatever][img]

That fixed it up for me.

Inspired or Crazy

Post by n1lul » September 8th, 2009, 10:53 am

The folks getting close to 1,000,000 got me doing some math. I "only" have 422,000 meters left until my first million and 57 days until my 46th. birthday, so that would mean just over 52,000/week for the next 8 weeks.

During the WRC last year I averaged 53,709/week so I know I have it in me.

I'll work on one of those milestong thingies.

Lisa--Arrrgh... tried the calorie counting but it's not for me. I have a hard enough time posting my meters a couple of times a week! The process became too stressful; I'd rather spend the time rowing! It did point out the times of the day when I was hungry & wanted to snack, though. Post-work-snacking before I row is the worst time of the day for me, but now that I'm off processed foods, it's not as bad. It also reminded me of the foods that aren't the best for me, calorie-wise.

Kathy B & Michael, it's great to reach those million milestones; the only drawback is that next million sure seems far away. The challenges help, so row strong!

We follow the Broncos (Boo Hoo...) and the Rockies. Even went to a Rockies game last Sunday and it was a blast (they won 13-5).

A book I have talks about two bites. After two bites, you lose a lot of the enjoyment from the taste of a food, so just stop eating after two bites. Works good for me at parties because I end up tasting a number of things without overeating and feeling guilty. The book didn't say anything about two sips, but maybe it's analogous to two beers! You sure picked a great time to start following the Pats!

Hey Linda, you're right, I was thinking about what you posted and about the drawbacks of reaching the million meter milestone and then the 2nd Million being so far away, so I decided to stop tonight before I reach the million and listed my ERG on EBAY, So if you know of anyone looking for a low metered Concept2, mine is on the market at a very reasonable price. I figured rather that looking at the daunting task of rowing to 2 million, lets stop and sell the thing before it loses all it's value once it reaches that million meter mark. okay Linda, I'm just kidding, I'm actually going to sit on it backwards and row back to zero meters, that way I can keep my resale price high on a low metered ERG! It's just really hard to reach the handle!

Linda, I agree with you on the calorie counting, not for me either. I've been working on my weight since end of August last year and I've lost 45 pounds, which I lost by December of last year. I am a terrible eater and my weight comes from compulsive eating. The biggest change I made has been in the amount of exercising. Since I lost the weight last year, I've managed to keep it off by finding new things to do and new challenges. I never had a summer like this last one, I had different biking events planned for every weekend, either with the family or with organized rides. This forced me to keep on my bike and to keep improving my performance. I even got into some timed events to track myself and so next year, I have something to work toward to improve my time, which keeps my training focused.

The other change that did for me, is that I don't eat the healthiest foods all the time, but now I do watch what I eat and the amount. I don't count and couldn't give you a number of how many calories are in an item of food, but I do realize what a normal portion should look like and find it pretty easy to eat and not feel guilty by something I ate, or feel bad because I'm hungary and I'm starving myself. I'm just really aware now of how much effort it takes to remove the weight, and how easy it can come back if I don't pay attention.

Now I'm back onto a rowing schedule and it's great to be back with you guys. This forum and the challenges are wonderful and keep finding new challenges and reasons to keep rowing. That brings me to the comments by Ray. Good luck on your million mile milestone thingies! But word of caution, don't push too hard you burn yourself out mentally or physically. I did that last year, I went too far to fast and the injury, luckily physically it was a conditioning thing, after running through a full workout of cardiovascular tests to rule out heart attack and blockages. Surprised the doctor with my resting heartrate and my conditioning while running the stress test for the third time in a day. Let me tell you, the erg does do wonders for a persons physical conditioning! But then came my mental and I am still struggling a little. I burned out on the exercise, may be subliminal due to my scare last winter, but it has been tough getting back in the saddle and pushing. But it is great to be back, just some nights real difficult to get to the starting point. Biggest thing is to keep a pace and challenge that we push ourselves with, but not to a point that we can't reach without the realization, that if we don't reach that goal, don't be disappointed by not reaching the goal, but just be amazed that, one, you had it in you to attempt the challenge, and two, that if you don't reach your goal, which by the way, by posting it and making it public you're much more likely to reach your goal!, but two, that if you don't reach your goal, we've all been in that place and everyone on team TimbukTOO will still be here giving you support to continue to strive forward. I have to thank Captain Pat for a well timed e-mail that got me back onto the erg.

Okay, now if you have read this entire post, which seems lengthy and my attempt to waste as much time as I can of the entire team to make you read a completely run on of a run on sentence that I don't know how to stop typing because of an entirely grand caffine rush I am experiencing from drinking mountain dew, which by the way, is not good in any amount, but it tastes sooooooo gooooood . I haven't had one in over 6 months, but had one tonight after being beaten badly at tennis, a little self inflicted abuse.

Wow, way to much information is going into this post, and I deeply apologize if you have actually read all this and don't blame anyone of you if you remove me from "your favorite person in the world" list. Which by the way, just being on that list has put so much extra stress in my life it has been almost unbearable

Okay, I just previewed this post and I couldn't even remember what I wrote at the beginning and I fell asleep once, now it's almost 11pm and I still need to row. Boy am I going to be tired in the morning!

I really hope that Captain Pat doesn't make me walk the plank for this post, by the way, does anyone know what Vegemite Crumpets are?! I heard that is what's cooking in the galley tonight :x!

Hey Michael C....thanks for the challenge, but I am not going there this time. I do enjoy a good challenge, but I row at a gym and do alot more than just row....

my last challenge with Michael T. had me skipping my weights and everything else I do, trying to get in meters....since it is all about being fit and staying in shape, I have gotten wiser this year. Still doing my outdoor rowing until the head of the charles and the outdoor meters do not count.

Thanks for the offer, but I will be there next week and I really can't believe it.

someone wrote that they want to complete a million a year and I think that is very doable, since I have only been rowing since last december regularly.

Besides, football season is here and that means most sundays I can't get to the gym before I leave for the games....

Good luck and congrats to all of you doing the great rowing!!!!

Row Strong....

Go Patriots!

Hi Kathy, Michaelc and Michael T. are the same person :P, michaelc is my user name.

I was kidding about the race to the million, because yeah I don't want to get my butt kicked again, as my boys would say, by a girl!!!!!

So what's this about getting wiser?!?!?!?!? Go Patriots???????

Michael, loved the BOOK! :) Sorry we have stressed you out so much by making you our favorite person. ;) I hope you got your meters in yesterday!!!!

I did my 10k but it was a struggle. I did end up running the 5k Monday, but I'm fighting a sinus infection and I am struggling to find energy.

I'm on facebook now, at long last. I need friends, so find me through Pat or PM me!

Cap'n Pat, that birthday is in the middle of the FRC, so hopefully you'll row through it without a hitch! :D!
