Happy Birthday, Gina! Wishing you a year of good health, good rowing, and lots of laughter! And many friends!
PS - How are you guys doing with all the wildfires in your area right now? LA is not known for having great air as it is....
Congratulations, Gina!Kona2 wrote:

Good idea!DuluthMoose wrote: Kiba - We need to figure out how to get you back on the rower inexpensively. I'm wondering if something like softTiles 5/8" thick interlocking foam mats would work to cut the transfer of noise through your floor. You can find them in any Home Depot type store in the States. Take a look in Canadian Tire.
hope you are back rowing with us soon....Kiba wrote:Happy Birthday Gina!!!
So, as an explanation to my absence:
My neighbours are pretty upset about my rowing machine, so I need to invest in a good mat to put under it. Only since school is just starting I don't really have any money at all to spare. Then combined with the fact that when I moved here I didn't have any friends, so I've been on this huge social quest. So now it's kind of flipped the other way, and I have 40 people who all want to hang out with me, and I hardly have 2 minutes a day to myself. Which is technically pretty nice since I was feeling really lonely after moving. And that's my story. The summary being that after I pay tuition and buy my books I'll know how much money I have to spend, and once I get the mat I'll have more time to sneak in metres. Plus, once school starts, now I live in a city with water everywhere, so I might be able to get in some on the water metres, which would be really cool.
Lots of effort there ... thx for the visual, Lilia!
Crikey....that sounds pretty good, fresh corn and coconut milk soup for dinner, which included a chopped jalapeno .. Thanks Chris........just27 wrote:Lots of effort there ... thx for the visual, Lilia!
I was planning to row now, but made a fresh corn and coconut milk soup for dinner, which included a chopped jalapeno ... my fingers are on fire ... how can I possibly grip the handles while blowing on my hands ... ! (Note to self ... wear gloves to chop up a fresh jalapeno!)
If any of the "serious" rower boys still peruse these posts from time to time, they'll have a field day with a recipe exchange ... but here are the ingredients, if Janet likes specifics:BAZzy wrote:Crikey....that sounds pretty good, fresh corn and coconut milk soup for dinner, which included a chopped jalapeno .. Corn & Coconut Soup (serves 4)
Bring 1 jalapeno chile (seeded and chopped), 3 cups fresh corn kernels, 1 can (14 oz) coconut milk, and 2-1/2 cups water or chicken broth to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Puree in a blender or use an immersion blender. (Strain through a coarse sieve if you want a smooth soup ... it looks better, but that's all.) Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice. Garnish with chopped Thai basil, or black pepper. Serve hot; or chill for at least 3 hours to serve cold.
Good luck on your walk. Packed lots of moleskin?
