My, my! Look at Minnie go! She's rowed a full marathon just prior to birthday-dom. And, to top it off, I think she's the first team member to put a check mark by a full marathon this rowing year. We've had half moons, half marathons, full moons, red giants and supernovas.....but I think this is the first full marathon!

Congratulations Chris!
Great rowing, Chris! It takes real dedication to go the whole marathon distance :o

If Kiba is MIA much longer, you'll be #3 in the team rankings - woo hoo :!:

Remember, must keep ahead of that pesky bugger from down under - Bazzy

Just so everyone knows, my updates might get sporatic pretty soon, for about the next month. I'm getting ready to move, so I don't have as much time to row. Then once I do move, I might not have the internet for a while.
I pulled this quote from July 21st.....once she is internet connected, I'm sure we'll hear from her!

My First Mate has dutifully pointed out that I have been missed. Thanks for tossing me a line. It is true that this has been a very busy summer for me. I have not rowed because of the building projects at hand. Once the projects and marathons are done I shall be back on the seat in force, never fear! I have to show off the one aviary section I did finish so far. Shed painting is compliments of Ben, who was working off a big debt. :D

This cage is the new construction.

These are the Indian Fantail Pigeons is was built for. I use them for display only (they don't fly home if released.)

Those are really amazing cages, and what pretty pigeons. I like the color it is painted too. I'd show my wife who also likes to keep various animals around, but she'd want me to build one for her.

In an example of intercontinental sympathy, I too undertook to do a Full M yesterday, however "things" intervened and I elected to bail at the halfway point... Cheers, Dave
Thanks for the marathon cheers, folks ... and for the intercontinental kindred spirit, Dave. I didn't feel quite as pitiful after this one as the two last season! (And, as I think Gina pointed out, when no one else has done the distance or time in your age group, you get to rank!)

Nice bird houses, Kristine, and beautiful pigeons. Is that a bunny, living in the cage with them?

Wild Bill ramps up the horsepower ....closing in on the next milestone!

Hooyah, team! We are in such a unique star position! We are very likely to have FOUR team mates achieve the one million meter season mark in the next few days - and one achieve a three million meter season.

Season meters as of 95/365 = 22,815,833 m

Total meters on the day = 198,388 m

Oars in space = 27 percent

Will S with (87,342 m) to go!

Tim with (87,433 m) to go!

Darryl with (125,401 m) to go! Never doubt the ability of Image to glide silently past an opponent....but....he'll paddle next to a teammate!

THREE Million Meter Mark:

Wild Bill with (108,000 m) to go!

Birthday Twins: Two days to B-Day! Finish off this year in style! Somewhere Kiba's getting the cupcakes ready!!

And, thank you most sincerely to all the crew:

Kona2 I've been asked by a bunch of folks if my Quetico pictures have been posted yet. Truth is I've been waiting to see if our rookie on the trip (who took 4 times as many photos as anyone else) comes through with a CD of his photos to round out the trip album. Last week he said a CD was coming and hopefully it arrives soon. But I'm also packing for another canoe adventure that we leave on Thursday for down in southern Wisconsin, so even if the CD arrives today, I may not have time to complete the album until next week. So here is the web address of the album I started for the Quetico trip, my biggest trip of the year. For those who are interested, you are welcome to view the pictures now, but this is a work in progress and I'll have to let you know when I've finished uploading photos to it. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/5737 ... t=outdoors

Birthday Greetings

Post by Toothdoc » August 5th, 2009, 3:21 pm

My apologies to all concerned for jumping the gun on the B-day greeting. A little extra for and from Loons is a good thing, right! Now I've got to do it all over again tomorrow.

Hey, I'm celebrating all week-long ... the early greeting was much appreciated, especially seeing that every birthday greeting requires a toast to self ... :)
