LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 6.29.09
This is it! The last day of June 2009 - make it a splendid day of rowing!
Distance to the midway point of our journey to the moon is shrinking! We could be at less than 3 million in the next couple of days....wowzer!
Distance to midway = 3,387,929 m
Season meters as of 60/365 = 15,255,529 m
Total meters on the day = 164,116 m
Oars in space = 24 percent
MILESTONES.....Bragging Rights.....Celebrations:
600K Dave H
500K Ted
Half Marathon # 16 by Dave H

Darryl 14,420 m
Jim 17,115 m (you're rowing some serious meters here!)

No HM. You are right I am distracted, but then that's a normal state of affairs.

... it's "erg" as in "arrgh"
I was just going through some boxes of my mom's "stuff" and happened upon a newspaper clipping she'd saved from January 2000, when my son was in college, and rowing for the first time.
San Diego Indoor Classic, novice men:
David Tudury: 2,000 meters - 6 minutes 20 seconds.
That means so much more to me now than it did in 2000!

WOW!!! He is a stud!

Chris - I'm in awe of that pace! I just discovered that the pace does indeed register UNDER 2:00 per 500 m. David's pace was 1:35 per 500m.
After I finished today's row, I looked at my monthly totals to see if I rowed farther in May than in June. Oddly enough I rowed the exact same hours, minutes and seconds, but went 4,070 meters farther!
must be something to rowing consistently!

I compared David's 2,000 m time with the current mens' 19 - 29 rankings. Interestingly (to me), 2 of the top 10 men are at UC San Diego, which is where he rowed. (Go Tritons!)
That is a remarkable time....I've set one of my goals to sub 7 minutes this year over 2,000m, something to aim for anyway..........just27 wrote:Hooyah, Gina, on the additional 4,070 meters and the consistent rowing!acrewer wrote:Chris - I'm in awe of that pace! Now where is Just27, I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow (Friday) and rowing furiously and with reckless abandon trying to catch her...hahahhaha! Might have to eat a Kiba Pizza though........

Baz ... I'm happy to hear that you're "back in the saddle" again ... and, if the Kiba Pizza works as advertised, I'll race you to a million meters on Saturday. (I'm aiming for fireworks day to cross that line.)
Re: Back in the Saddle
Kiba Pizza or no Kiba Pizza I won't be a snow flakes chance in hell of getting to 1mm this weekend....slowly, slowly for me. In fact, I'll be hiking on the weekend, so not sure how much I will get done. Just had some tight hip flexors this week and didn't want to have any muscle spasms as it takes too long to recover.just27 wrote:BAZzy wrote:Now where is Just27, I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow (Friday) and rowing furiously and with reckless abandon trying to catch her...hahahhaha! I'll be watching out for those fire works though.......so good luck!

Not sure how that one happened haha, must have been real tired when I set the PM.Kona2 wrote: Kiba 20,010 m (I couldn't figure out why I was 10 m off on the totals this morning....sneaky)
Bazzy and Chris, good rowing to both of you, I'll have to add some fireworks to that cupcake
Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.01.09
Well ... it's been a year this month since I decided it was not fun anymore being 57 years old (now 58) and struggling too hard to keep up with the younger guys who were just making me work too hard.Kona2 wrote:

So, a few million metres in the logbook and 105 pounds gone forever, I'm enjoying life like I haven't done in 20 years.
Don't worry, it's a temporary insanity and the metres will pick back up soon - I don't want to lose the spot at the top of the Luna-Tics Team page
There was a request a while back for some before/after pictures ... so, OK; but only because I owe you folks a lot for keeping me on track.
There are not a lot of "before" pictures, understandably, but here are a couple - you should get the idea:
Drum roll please ...
And now, the "After" pic:
Wait for it ...
Getting a little annoying, isn't it?
OK, here it is (really):
So, the moral of the story is: buy yourself a Concept 2 Rowing Ergometer, row like a fiend and eat like a health food nut for about a year, and you, too, can become someone else
Happy 4th of July, folks!
