Thanks!! Now #1 after adding yesterday's times!!

How could this NOT be my race? New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, upstate New York - those are my old stomping grounds where I was born and spent the first 42 years of my life (when I wasn't off in some foreign land or another).

Now I live a couple hours' drive from Sin City - Death Valley, it's a dry heat

One side note: I just reached 8 million metres lifetime  Who'd o' thunk  Now, I'm on track for an 8 million metre season

It's not possible to overstate the importance of the team support you have all given me that has spurred me on - honestly! Some days, when the body is just not very willing, I think about that empty space that would have belonged to "Wild Bill" in Kona2's daily summary - how could I bear the shame? So, off to the Erg I go.

Of course, I can't overlook the blinding, blood-chilling, knee-weakening fear of Kiba overtaking me

But today is starting off well, so off to the Erg, my friends - thanks! :D

Wild Bill ... Congrats on the cheese race standing, and on the 8 MM lifetime ... hooyah! An 8 MM season is an extraordinary goal, and one which will definitely put your flag on the top of a mountain.

In this race, 2nd and 3rd places look much more interesting!

Congratulations on the 8 million!

While I wouldn't turn down a comped trip to Lost Wages, I have to agree with Gina ... the spa in Vermont looks mighty good to me. (So do the rowing shorts. :D )

This is what I sent to the Cheese race!

Since W Haag and I both spend 2 hours + on the erg per day and none of the top 3 contestants are on the C2 hooar board I am calling BS on their reported times. What say yoo?

I seriously doubt anyone spends more time walking, runniing, biking or erging than us!!!!!

Take a look at the honor board WB, WS, Kiba, CT and I all spend abnormal amounts of time on the erg and none of us qualify for the for the top 3 spots

Just a reminder....the Vermont to Vegas challenge is multisport, and there are many sports that require a lot less vim and vigor than rowing - thus more hours can indeed be entered. I can spend hours on a bicycle day after day, and could not match that on the erg. I believe that walking golfers were also able to put in their minutes.....and if they are playing a round of golf for four hours or so a day......waaaay different than rowing. The idea is to get people out exercising....cross-training.....

PB

Post by DuluthMoose » May 23rd, 2009, 11:32 am

Kona2 - This morning's entry is a PB for me for an hour row. I finally cracked the 15K barrier with 15,054meters @ 1:59.5 / 500M AVE. I think I'll celebrate with a PB & J sandwich!

By the way, nice graphic and an excellent way to enjoy the night sky! ...as long as someone back in camp keeps the fire going so you can find your way back.
