Erging with Plantar fasciitis (heel spur)

Having been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis (the inflammation eventually leading to heel spur), most probably caused by running, I wonder if erging is a good alternative. Running is now out of the question....

Most online sources say that anything which doesn't impact your heelplate with your weight is fine (i.e. swimming, cycling, rowing), on the other hand you do push your legs out with force on the erg and stretch your achilles tendons.....

Any thoughts/experiences with this painful condition, in combination with rowing ?

I also have Platar Fasiitis. Sucks doesn't it!

When I became apparent that my running days were more than likley over I searched for an alternative and decided on rowing. Good choice I think.

My heel actually feels better after rowing. My feeling is that the action of the ankle at the catch is similar to doing calf stretches.

Rowing has not made the pain go away all the time, but it definitly does not make it worse.

A second vote for "doesn't seem to make it worse."

In my case, erging also appears to hit many of the same muscles as running, not to mention working the heart and lungs. A couple weeks ago, without running so much as a mile in the last six months, I ran in a PB in a local 5K. Had a bit of soreness in the hamstrings the following day; however, there was no out of the ordinary pain the next morning (when I usually feel the ailment) from the plantar fasciitis.
