Guilty as charged....a parrothead since before there was such a thing, but a little too young to have watched Captain Troy.

ToothDoc - You won't like my "portage pills" either. The daily ration that goes in my pocket is one old fashioned Brachs sourball hard candy for every quarter mile or longer portage I face that day. It has to be a green one for the real nasty portages; those with steep climbs or decents, mud over ankle deep, or those over a half mile in length. I put it between my back molar and cheek and let it slowly dissolve. It's good for 20 to 30 minutes, gives me an energy pick-up, and keeps me from getting a dry "cotton mouth" from heavy exertion. But sourballs are becoming premium stuff - they are becoming really hard to find in the last 10 years!
I do have a problem with that much sugar but, as mentioned, that's kind of the point of the drink. I use honey ... and promise to brush my teeth right afterwards! I also wondered about agave nectar, and sent an email query to one of their distributors.Toothdoc wrote: ... but I'm a little concerned with all the sugar. ... Ok! Ok! I checked with Rome and I got all of you a Papal Dispensation for sugar while erging or on water rowing.
