Newest millionaire

Post by Rick C » April 30th, 2009, 10:21 am

I owe it all to the LUNA-TICS! I wanted to make sure I made the distance before posting this. I went back and looked at my previous seasons:
2005 season - 739,814 meters
2006 - 736,472
2007 - 685,905
2008 - 730,614
This year, from May 2008 to March 14, 2009, I had only 549,936 meters - that extrapolates to only 628,498 by the end of the season if I had continued at that rate. Then - I JOINED THE LUNA-TICS for the WRC. In the last month and a half, due ENTIRELY to the encouragement of Captain Kristine, the daily updates and pep talks from Kona 2, and the examples being set by all of you pulling the massive meters, I put in 450,066. 1,000,002 for the season. Now I'm going to get back on my bicycle, but I am looking forward to making it to the moon with this great team. I think my goal for the coming season is to spread out the meters a little more evenly!

I'll play! I resolve to average 14,000 a day for the coming season. (What's the expression ... shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you'll land among the stars!?) Enjoy your shot of Lagavulin ... that's a flavor you either love or hate, for sure!

Happy C2 New year's Eve, everyone ... and congrats on an awesome season. Y'all (thx, Dan) are VERY motivational!

Last year was quite crazy...

But next year we go to the MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

Image

Jan please note 4 million meters for us next season. We still will negotiate about the split between us. Probably 3 and 1.

Greetings from the wedding anniversary couple of the Netherlands.

It's been a year? Happy Anniversary, Peter and Lilia! I still remember that amazing red wedding cake ... did you save a section for your first anniversary? If not, here's a cupcake to share:

Congrats on a year well rowed. This team has been a huge motivator this year. Even when I pulled the rib muscle and had to rest, it was still great coming here. It's amazing to think that I regulary converse with teammates in Austrailia and Europe as well as just a few miles away!

Goal for next year is to stay healthy and no injuries! I'd like to be on the 5000 daily meter board, and finish the year with at least 1,500,000 meters.

To the moon, Alice, to the moon!

Gina

PS - don't forget to download your logcard to an excel file to save it and start the year with a clean slate.

It's A Wrap: 2009 Rowing Season

You have to dream big to go to the moon! You have to have marvelous teammates to go to the moon! We must be marvelous dreamers!
Image Thanks to photobucket for picture.....
Luna-Tics Rowing Season 2009: What We Accomplished

1. In one year, the crew more than doubled the distance traveled to the moon. Six years of rowing by previous teams = 22% of the distance to Luna. We are currently at 45.1% of the distance to the moon.

2. Team members bought SIX new rowing machines!

3. Team finished 6th overall in the rowing universe. Our previous year's best ever finish was 11th.

4. Crew numbered 81 at end of rowing year. Our previous year's high was 59. Two crew members were married....twice....on different continents. Crew enjoyed virtual wedding cake.

5. Ten marathon rows were completed in the global marathon row. Our previous year ONE was completed.

6. Dan rowed at least 80 percent of the team's half marathons!

7. We had an incredible number of first half-marathons done by team members. Just goes to show you don't have to have a million meters on the rowing machine before you try what may seem like a BIG reach.

8. Every meter counts. You don't have to be an ultra-distance rower to be a Luna-Tic. We want you to row YOUR kind of meters - we'll celebrate them all !

Back in June, based on 35 crew members and how they were progressing, the following predictions were made:

Image

Remember, you have to re-up to be a Luna-Tic in 2010 (our team community is the signing bonus).....you won't appear on the team roster until you've logged at least one meter. Do join us on our journey to the moon! Good times and good rowing will be enjoyed by all !

Happy New Rowing Year!
And thanks, Chris, for taking the stats for a few days!

Ditto Dan - so what are your goals for the new year?
This is the "C2 New Year's Eve", so I am resolving to do at least a 3 million metre year.
Anyone else going to play?
(Dave raises a dram of Lagavulin - the isle of Islay's finest single malt - and toasts you all! And just to be sure it is Islay's finest, he toasts Rabbie Burns too... )

Dave H,

I'll see your Laravulium and raise you two New Glarus Spotted Cows. I'm thinking around 5 Million this year would be good since I'm giving some serious thought to getting on the water one day a week. I didn't plan on being on the Forum until Monday, but at the last minute I packed the laptop and I found a reliable WIFI network today so here I am. No meters to report but I did ride 25 miles on at the hotel fitness senter this AM. Had to work off some of that Linguini and white clam sauce and a bottle of Malbec from last night.

Congrats Rich. Nice job.

Looks like I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get home Good start you guys.

Thanks again for all the laughs last year. I expect many more in "10.

Good luck to all for this season.....I'm aiming for a 5M season and a sub 7 minute over 2,000m....the fun (and fitness) will be in the trying! Currently training for a walk in Papua New Guinea in September...similar to the Kokoda Track.......

Good luck out there and thanks for the inspiration you all give......

Good to hear Dan - an admirable goal, despite your abuse of (obviously performance enhancing!) motled bovine ale! Image
Have you ventured onto the water to row previously, or will this be a new experience?

So with Chris's 14k per day, Doc and BBBaz, thats three @ 5million for the season... admirable goals all!
I might have to put in a couple of big months and lift my year round game a bit!
My new season is having a slow start - a careless burn on the inside of a finger has seen no meters so far... hope to achieve a few later today.
