6 more rowing days in the 2009 rowing year!

What's in your night sky?!Image

Those with an eye to the sky were treated to celestial wonders in the last 24 hrs! Full moons were noted over Sydney, Sacramento, and somewhere in the Netherlands! Half moons reported over Colorado and Florida! A red giant was also seen over Sydney !

(Btw...I wouldn't recommend doing a search on full moons in photobucket...the visual overload is just tooooooo much.)

Season meters as of 359/365 = 83,908,005 m (do I hear an 84 MM ???)

Total meters on the day = 311,422 m

Oars in space = 20 percent

MILESTONES....Bragging Rights....Celebrations:

Marathon Madness

Post by Toothdoc » April 25th, 2009, 10:14 am

Hey JUST (Sore Butt) 27,

I thought you weren't doing anymore marathon's! But since you did. YIPPEEEEEEEE, YAHOOOOOOOO and SHAZAM!!!!!!!

This PITA syndrome use to be an issue at my house too. After buying the padded shorts, the sore-no-more padded seat and 20 lbs of bubble wrap I finally got serious and went to furniture reupholster shop and bought a piece of 1.75 inch thick medium density foam. Then I cut out two holes to correspond to the Branche ischio-pubienne (1.5"x3.5") and I covered this with a terry cloth towel. Voila no more PITA.

By the way what is the name of those pads we bought for our hands? I have worn mine out and need another pair.

Peter H

Congrats on the FM PB. Some Say, a nice bottle of Malbec will sooth the old tush.

Red Giant

Post by Toothdoc » April 25th, 2009, 10:18 am

Dave H,

What has gotten into lad? A Red Giant? Have you given up your social life? That's 2 maybe 3 days of rowing for us normal folk.

Seriously, great work!

I did say that the December full moon was my one and only ... but, this team is so darned motivational and, well, a tad competitive ... I just couldn't help myself! (Plus, I had a pack of fluorescent sports drinks that needed using.) My butt's just fine, TYVM, (well padded, naturally) but my knees won't be up to gardening today ... oh, too bad!

Great jobs, Dave and Peter!

Thanks Jan - truth is I should have "come back from holidays" a day sooner, however procrastinated... I guess there was some guilt ridden erging amongst that lot!

Thanks Dan, social life took priority for the previous week, so it was time to "pay the ferryman" yesterday. I promise it won't happen again... at least untill the new rowing year! (Oh, and since when did you consider yourself "normal"... six million meter man??? :P )

BTW, I have just ordered some of the New Grips you mentioned, & look forward to seeing how they go. I have a friend who Kayaks a lot and has hand problems - has anyone used them successfully in this instance?

For those interested in a low cost improvement to the hand callus/ blister issue, I have been using a pair of wrist sweat-bands on the handles of the C2 for some time now - not perfect, however being a little bit bigger than the handle they can be moved around to suit your needs mid row, and absorb a lot of the sweat generated. I usually have them so that my thumb and forefinger are off the edge making it easy to go around the handle, and leave the padding under the fingers etc. where it does most good. Like I say, not perfect but a definite improvement for me...

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks for posting the info on fueling for a marathon...perhaps someday I'll try one, no time this next week though.

Gina

Please, fill me in. We can get a prize for reaching 2 million? I was unaware. I hit 2 mill myself back in Jan. and didn't seek a prize. Where do I go to find out about this. Thanks for the info and more importantly CONGRATULATIONS on reaching the 2 million meter goal.

Karyn: The incentive prizes are fun! Go to your online logbook, and open the CHALLENGES tab. On the bottom left you’ll see MILLION METER CLUBS … click the “More about the Million Meter Clubs” link. On the left column, you’ll see PRIZES, which shows you the incentives. Decide, then click ENTRY FORM to enter your request for prizes. (Looks like you can check both your one million teeshirt, and your two million whatever.)

Your marathon time is just plain amazing.
