Thanks for the attagirls, Jan, Danno, and William ... Wild Bill, you didn't "throw" that 4MM "race," did you ... gentleman that you are!?William H wrote:Congratulations, Chris! Great work!
Jan: Definitely, it's the movies that keep me keeping on ... especially now that I've moved the rower into a room with a big screen TV ... I can even watch and read films with subtitles! ("The Lives of Others" was really, really good ... and a nice change from my usual intergalactic warfare and bank heist genre ... )

Congrats!
Congratulatins Chris on 4 mm for the season! Nice rowing!
My goal is to make VHS tapes of the 5 - 55 minute videos I got from my Florida paddling. I don't have a big screen, but I do have an old analog TV and VCR in the basement where my rower is that I'm going to try to put to use and try letting my mind focus on something else while rowing.

"Throw" the "race?" No way, Chris - you made it there first, fair and square.just27 wrote:Thanks for the attagirls, Jan, Danno, and William ... Wild Bill, you didn't "throw" that 4MM "race," did you ... gentleman that you are!?William H wrote:Congratulations, Chris! Great work!

Fantastic Job, Chris. You are a true inspiration to the crew!
Hey, has anyone else experienced any problems with dull pain in the area behind the knee, but on the outside of the leg, near where the tendons connect but up a little higher than the actual knee-pit?
I have been having this for a long time now in just the left leg. I only notice it when rowing, and it doesn't really seem to get any better with long rests. It actually seems more noticeable when I first start rowing again after a break of a week or more. I have tried adjusting the foot rests to different heights, and don't really notice any differences in the pain. I always do a 5-10 min. warm up row before going harder.
Any suggestions from the experienced?

A lot of stretching before getting on the erg. Then a lot of stretching after getting off the erg.Kristine Strasburger wrote:Hey, has anyone else experienced any problems with dull pain in the area behind the knee, but on the outside of the leg, near where the tendons connect but up a little higher than the actual knee-pit?

There's no substitute for quality stretching to avoid nasty knee/joint/back pains. I learned this the hard way by "running through the pain" in my younger years - I'll never run again (this is where the erg entered my life way back when with the Model A, but that's another story for another day).
The stretches recommended on the C2 site are good, but with a little research on the web and/or a good book on stretching, you should be able to find some stretches that suit you perfectly.
Please remember, the pain will not go away by pushing yourself through it.
When I do my warmup stretches I think about how rewarding it will be, and how good I will feel, when I do the same stretches again after my row(s). The after row stretch time is the quietest and most peaceful time of my whole day.
Hey, couldn't hurt

Hmmm! I haven't had much knee pain from rowing -- mine always stemmed from running. Good thinking on trying to adjust the foot stretchers. That is one thing I would have recommended. The only other things I can think of are 1) watch the angle of your foot against the stretcher. See if you position your left foot at a different angle than your right. If your toes are turned inward or outward too much, that could lead to additional strain on the knee; 2) pay attention to how you push off the foot stretchers. Are you applying the pressure evenly with both feet? Are you beginning the push off from the balls of your feet?
CHRIS -- WOW! 4 million in a season. I'm just trying to get to one! You go Girl!
