I did this at the Adirondak Sprints, same as romad63 (what race were in in romad? i must have seen you there)
I was in the men's masters race that went off around 10:45.

Just to add to the comments about the air at Crash B's - i've heard various comments about it. Myself I didn't really notice it being that bad.

That being said I improved my time by almost 3 seconds myself which is a considerable jump. What's odd is that I did the Adirondack Sprints with a cold and not feeling well. In fact my lips went blue during the race, lol.
I followed the exact same race plan at both sites and in both instances hit the 1500 mark right around 4:53.

So maybe there is something to the air however I attribute part of my difference I spent 8 hours walking around the boston aquarium the day before Crash B's.

just my 2 cents

Ben, not sure if you're coming to Slides of March in Saratoga, I'll be there.

New 2k PR. Pulled a 6:48.7. Previous PR was set last October, was a 6:50.5

Not a big improvement but I was sick for about 4 months and my previous 2k was a 6:54.7 so it felt good to PR and bring the time down.

Just banged out a 7:09.6 today, my goal was a 7:12.

It felt so easy; I shattered my pb from last year (7:23.4).

500m - 1:48.3
1000m - 1:48.2
1500m - 1:48.1
2000m - 1:45.1

I was so pumped. I was in control the whole piece; it felt great!
Also, I know there's plenty of room for improvement, so that's promising.

New pb for 5000m of 20:43! I concentrated on a steady 2:05/500m until the final 500 and then went all out. Felt pretty good with an avg HR of 144 and a max of 163.

Yesterday I did a 10k in just under 45 minutes. I have only been doing this for a few weeks so I am pretty happy about that.

Personal Best

Post by mikewest » March 21st, 2009, 2:05 pm

Am just getting back into this after 6-7 years away from the machine. 60 yr-old former Penn rower (3 yrs rowing for Ted Nash, with two undefeated nat'l championship seasons). Up to now, my personal best was stepping over the erg SIX times in one day on the way to the fridge for a beer. Not any more...now I'm rowing on it again and feeling great about it. Now 6'5" 216 lbs, hoping to get to 205 or so. Hi to all. MW
