ONE Million Meter Watch:

Karyn with (117,244 m) to go.....
Thanks for dangling that carrot for me. My original plan was to do a 1/2 marathon tomorrow, but I caught a bit of a cold, so we'll have to see how I feel in the morning. If not tomorrow, I'll be sure to get back on the erg soon. (It won't be for a 1/2 during the week, but it will be something.) I can't let Gina get too far ahead and Jan, Pat B., and Kristine could sneak up behind me if I don't start moving soon. The race to 1 mill. season is on.

The Madness has started!

Following two days of almost non-stop driving (our tax law on car leases dictate minimum kilometres per year to determine the rate of "fringe-benefit" tax we have to pay on the lease; and I needed to notch up an extra 2,000 km's before the end of March to avoid a hefty $$ slug - so my wife and I drove from Sydney to Melbourne and back this weekend @ 1,000km's each way... ); I'm happy to report I have just registered the teams first March madness metres, and I am now ready to sleep!
It did feel good to do some exercise after all that sitting/ driving!

In a variation to the old fisherman's farewell/ blessing of "tight-lines"; I wish you all "tight shock-cords"!

Happy Saint David's Day

Image
Definitely a lesser known holiday than St. Paddy's Day, The feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, falls on March 1 each year. (Wear a daffodil today!)

Jan: Nice "mind the gap" graph! Excel? (And, yes, I'm hoisting up my virtual petticoats and plotting my strategy to stay ahead of William H until that magic 4mm number ... ) Thanks for highlighting the in-team challenges! Tres motivational.

Dave H: er, tight shock cords, back at ya. (A good thing, I'm thinking?) Nice AUS start to our March Madness.

Time zone segue: I keep meaning to ask if my PST meters posted after 9pm on the day BEFORE the challenges start, are counted!? (i.e. if I row at 10pm on March 14, is it an official EST log entry for March 15, the beginning of the WRC? I guess I can check it out in a couple of Saturday's time ... or maybe I should just get a life!)

Great graph Jan, I know what I gotta do...I'm definitely a turtle being chased by a couple of hares. Still on target for 3/17 goal. That is if IRS deadlines don't do me in first.

Chris - thanks for the cutural interlude...my crew coach in college was of Welsh heritage. Welsh are known to be great storytellers and he was one of the best. We were a club sport, on the brink of extinction as we had no coach. He stepped in and created a program that continues to this day. He made us believe in ourselves and even took a four to nationals his first year as coach. Coach Farwell died of pancreatic cancer much too young, but his memory lives on. Thanks for sparking my memories.

Welcome to the Team, Gene and Tom. It's great to have you on board!

David, nice to see your face on the team roster!

I just got the team entered in the 2009 World Rowing Challenge which starts on March 15th, so we are good to go there. Everyone needs to elect to participate from their logbooks, however, as it is not automatic anymore. I'll be sending out a reminder email around the 10th.

Great bar chart, Jan. You have motivated me to start rowing again TODAY rather than wait until after my tax appointment on Wed. I am still slaving away on the taxes. Gina, you can hit me with your oar for putting off what I should have been keeping up with all year in the bookkeeping department. I vow to do better next year!

Temporally out of orbit

Post by nl07695 » March 2nd, 2009, 5:32 am

Sorry Jan I cannot assist to crush the other boat slightly ahead... I pressed the reverse truster button today. It will propel me back to our planet earth. This time destination "windy city" Chicago. I should be back in orbit to join for the next rowing challenge March 15th and hopefully with our own rower. The schedule for Lilia is already prepared. She'll be back as soon as the rower is delivered with a schedule of 24K per week.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. I couldn't have (and wouldn't have) eclipsed that mark if it wasn't for Luna-Tic team support and Concept's challenges!

Oh and Chris:
Womp-bomp-a-loom-op-a-womp-bam-boom!

All ROOTY you guys!
