Setting up interval training

Post by Robert_Levit@hotmail.com » February 28th, 2009, 6:01 pm

Just got my machine a day or so ago. Can anyone give me the manual reference for setting up interval training? If not a reference, brief instructions. The PM4 seems to have a lot of sophistication, but the instruction as somewhat thin. Thanks

Three ways (depends what you're doing):

1. distance intervals, equal distance, equal timed rest.

Main menu --> Select workout --> New workout --> Intervals: Distance. Then set the distance and rest time on that menu. Press the bottom grey button to confirm and the monitor will show the distance you need to row before the rest starts. You can row 30 intervals before the PM4 will stop.

2. timed intervals, equal timed rest.

Main menu --> Select workout --> New workout --> Intervals: Time. Then set the time for each interval and the rest time on that menu. Press the bottom grey button to confirm and the monitor will show the time you need to row before the rest starts. Again this allows 30 intervals.

3. variable intervals, variable rest time.

Main menu --> Select workout --> New workout -> Intervals: Variable. Then set up each of the (up to thirty) intervals as either distance (with a rest time) or timed (with a rest time). After each intervals is programmed press the bottom grey button to enter that one and get back to the menu for the next interval (distance or timed). When complete press the grey button for "No More Intervals" and the monitor will show the first one ready to row.

There's a slightly differing menu if you use a LogCard. Using a LogCard can make it easier if you row a set of intervals and some time in the future want to row the same again by storing it as a favourite. You can also use a LogCard to tranfer programmed workouts to the "custom list"

Can someone help me with intervals on the PM2?

I press and release the I/O button and then I press and release the clock button. Then I use the arrows to set the interval time to 2:00 min. Then, while the interval time is still showing, I press and release the rest button and use the arrows to set the rest time to 1:00 min. Then, while the rest time is still showing, I press and release the clock again and set the interval time to 2:00 min.

Then I press OK.

I start rowing... the 2:00 min timer starts counting down.

But when it reaches 0:00, the display doesn't start counting down rest minutes or anything - it just shows the same thing it shows after a normal timed workout.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.
