Karyn - great pic, sorry about the disappointing results, but some progress is better than none. I'm happy just to row! However I did peek at the local club (Long Beach Ca) Crash-B results and were I able to complete I would have probably won my class (50-54 HW Women), 1st place was over 9 min. But I don't row or race on Saturday.

Was hoping to row today, but time got away from me.

About those avatars.....quite frankly, since I post just about every day, I thought the avatar photo was just TOO much me with multiple postings on a page. I'm still smiling though!

Karyn
... so, is "second from the bow" referring to the way y'all are facing, or the way the boat is moving? (Better yet, are you arms bare or arms shirted?)

Season meters as of 300/365 = 60,416,238 m (In the world of 80/20 analogies, it's the 20 percent that really matters that we should focus on....and we have 20 percent left in our rowing year! Go Luna-Tics!!)

Total meters on the day = 186,959 m

Oars in the water = 24 percent

MILESTONES....Bragging Rights....Celebrations:

Kona2,

The bow is the way your back is facing. That means no sleeves.

Too funny, in an humbling sort of way! My son "snorted" at me ... "well, the front of the boat is the front of the boat, regardless of which way you are facing ... "

Good to know, but "no sleeves" works for me!

Just so there's no confusion, I'm going to add a friendly ammendment to Dan's definition.....
When in a rowing shell, a sculling shell, a guideboat, a Whitehall, an Alden, or a trireme, the bow is the way your back is facing.

If your back is facing the bow in a canoe... let me just say it better be in a traditional symmetrical canoe hull. It won't work worth a darn in today's modern asymmetrical canoe hull designs. I'm back. Moose

Ok - I got it backwards = )

Rowing = the most efficient way to work your ass off while going backwards.

Also the only sport where you never really know where the finish line is until you cross it. And it is a good thing to be able to see all the others in the race.

Goal - reach the Million Meter Mark by 3/17 and celebrate with Endeavor - the glutenfree alternative to Guinness!
