Rowing and the Back.

New to this activity. What pre-rowing exercise would be advised to keep ones back in shape?

Robert, it is a good idea to do a little warm up on the ERG. I suggest 10 strokes of arms only in the reclined position, followed by 10 reps of trunk and arms with legs straight to stretch the hamstrings, followed by 10 full strokes followed by about 1000 m of sub maximal pace to warm up your body before you start rowing with vigor.

Get your rowing technique right and there's nothing better for deltoids, lats, glutes, etc.

http://www.concept2.co.uk/training/technique_video.php is a good starting point.
