Hey, Moose, welcome to our little corner of the Gulf. We hang our shingle almost exactly halfway between Perry and Appalachicola. Don't neglect the Sopchoppy and Wakulla Rivers as canoe-able venues. Then my wife and I will be touring north Florida on our own and the plans become much looser, but will probably include some time at Cedar Key and definitely in the Apalachicola area. Gotta feast on that great seafood in Apalachicola and get my bare feet full of sand from walking on the Gulf Coast beaches, you know, before I head back to the frozen tundra.

Thanks Ted. I looked up those two possibilities up in my copy of "A Canoeing and Kayaking Guide to the Streams of Florida, Vol 1; and they both sound interesting. I'll have to check them out. We usually paddle the Wacissa (spring run) and Owl Creek / Little Owl Creek (cypress swamp) when in that area.
Boomchunka
This is the best-ever cookie! I printed the recipe, and also gave a copy to the chef at work ... she just took a batch out of the oven and I had (several) hot Boomchunka's. OMG ... I'm going to have to row as much as Team Wills, to balance that little snack.Kristine Strasburger wrote:Ben says thanks for all the birthday recognition. ... Instead of a cake he had a Boomchunka.
My new favorite baked treat ... right up there with ginger cream scones. Good call, Ben!

Chris,
That was two rows that happened to add up to HM distance. That picture is terrific, makes one yearn for the water.
Great job in relief!

a quote to go with the photo...
It's a great art, is rowing.
It's the finest art there is.
It's a symphony of motion.
And when you're rowing well Why it's nearing perfection-
And when you reach perfection You're touching the divine.
It touches the you of you's
Which is your soul.

One More Oar ...
Welcome Tom Mc!
I just noticed that our club standing had gone from 7th to 6th place, by about 2 meters ... and, there you are, a fellow LunaTic! Good to have you on board.
Er, Darryl ... if I got Mukluks, would I have to renounce my Uggs?

I don't think the moose that donated the mukluk hide will care. But you may have to ask those Ugg sheep. Could be the Ugg Mukluk challenge. Here is what your Uggs are up against.

Jan has the data back in her super-capable hands now and, unless she's jet-lagged and sound asleep (very possible!), is doubtless trying to make sense of what the Moose and I returned to her. Stay tuned!
